The Role

The Director, Portfolio Management will support the Fidelity Wealth Business unit home office investment portfolio. Supporting this function requires strategic, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills to coordinate across the Fidelity Wealth Business Unit domains and portfolio of work. This role will report into the Vice President -Business Management.

You will implement the vision and near-term priorities-including the build out and execution of a portfolio management capability and several new routines with Senior Management, including Quarterly Business Review. You will drive enhancements to Portfolio Transparency and Accountability. You will also partner closely with leadership across Finance, Strategy, HR and Delivery Enablement to understand resource investment in domains and specific initiatives.

Accountability

  • Support strategic investment portfolio management and measurement team
  • Complete vision and near-term priorities for team-including the build out and execution of a portfolio management capabilities that enable greater transparency and resource alignment
  • Enable L1 and L2 effective portfolio review and assessments to drive better decision-making
  • Partner closely with leadership across Finance, Strategy, HR, Delivery Enablement and the Fidelity Wealth SLT

Primary Objectives

  • Implement processes, systems and routines to improve portfolio transparency, accuracy, deliverable clarity and progress and ROI
  • Work with Domain S+P leads to ensure portfolio business cases, metrics and measures are aligned and provide transparency into initiative progress
  • Enable L1 and L2 effective portfolio review and assessments to drive better decision-making
  • Clarify and drive portfolio management standards across the business unit (in partnership with Enterprise)
  • Operationalize new BU routines (e.g., Key Initiative Reviews, Quarterly Business Review Quarterly Technology Review)
  • Establish routines that enable resource agility by defining clear on-ramps and off-ramps to measure progress, impact and ROI
  • Partner with other BUs on management and collaboration of xBU work
  • Support SLT to enable resourcing of highest priority investment areas
  • Create process for resource review and re-allocation
  • Drive transparency on Domain efficiency (e.g., Epics completed on time, Sub-initiatives in completed on time, Initiative ROI)
  • Recommend portfolio changes to tighten alignment with the business strategy

  • Validated strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and articulate connections across separate, but related concepts
  • Able to navigate sophisticated organizations and build traction / momentum around ideas

Fidelity's working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs. Currently, most hybrid roles require associates to work onsite all business days of one assigned week per four-week period (beginning in September 2024, the requirement will be two full assigned weeks).
