Position Details:

The Director, Field Operations is responsible for providing leadership and expertise to drive profitable growth and financial stewardship while ensuring operational excellence and customer satisfaction within the region. The region is comprised of Branch locations and KeepStock territories. You will be responsible for ensuring that all practices are in line with the overall standards of our Branch and Keepstock networks. You will also be responsible for safety and security of all team members and real estate plans for our locations.

With the support of a team of Market Managers, you will ensure all health and safety practices are in place. In addition, you will partner with senior leaders in Field Operations to oversee all process improvement initiatives.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Field Operations, you will lead efforts for driving engagement and on-site customer service activities. Partner closely with the sales team to ensure the right solution is priced, negotiated and implemented based on customer needs and providing superior service across a large region. You will have direct impact on growing and embedding existing and new customers, and ensuring we manage cost to serve.

Pay:

This position is salaried and will pay between $160,000 - $190,000. This role is bonus eligible. Factors involved in determining the salary include, but are not limited to: a candidate's experience, qualifications, and geographical area.

You Will:

Business Leadership

  • Lead a team of 6 Market Managers in implementing and monitoring core processes, safety, inventory accuracy, standard work, risk management and customer satisfaction.
  • Implement Branch and Keepstock strategy at a region level within the field operations network.
  • Provide leadership to assigned market leaders who lead both branch and Keepstock functions in their region. Ensure all operational activities are in place to ensure profitability and key metrics are being met.
  • Provide insight on emerging needs of customers and new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate across sales, service, supply chain, and other key internal stakeholders to ensure operational excellence and incremental sales growth.
  • Be accountable for growing revenue in new and existing Keepstock accounts year over year.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure that Market Managers are executing and meeting all standard work and operating metrics in a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Work with Market Managers to develop market-based strategies including sales and marketing plans for growing counter and will-call sales volume.
  • Partner with Market Managers to ensure flawless counter, will-call, and Keepstock customer experiences.
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit on compliance issues and process improvements.
  • Foster a strong continuous improvement culture within the region by challenging the status quo, identifying opportunities and promoting tools/ methodologies to identify and reduce waste in operational excellence within the district.
  • Partner with field operations team to ensure data, reporting and analysis supports the business and operations.
  • Maintain knowledge and ensure compliance of WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, WSIB, and all related governing legislation.

Talent Management

  • Hire, develop, and retain a diverse leadership team. Identify future leaders through our performance tools and succession planning processes.
  • Drive accountability of leaders to ensure team members are functioning at the set standards for the Branch and Keepstock networks.
  • Work with senior leaders to identify annual performance goals and objectives.
  • Create an environment where leaders are engaged, empowered, and committed to the success of the company.
  • Support an environment that is open to diverse ideas and is psychologically safe.

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of operational experience leading a retail organization or distributed workforce.
  • 3+ years leading large teams or leading leaders.
  • Experience with financial results and P&L accountability. Understanding of financial and economic concepts.
  • Knowledge of industrial and/or safety products is beneficial.
  • Coaching, team building, recruitment, and team development skills, with a hands-on management approach.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strength in process improvement, ownership and control as well as project management.
  • Ability to partner and align with cross-functional groups (Distribution Centers, Contact Centers, Marketing, National Accounts, Commercial Sales, Product Management, Finance, Human Resources and Suppliers).
  • Influencing skills. Impactful communication at various levels.
  • Ability to lead a geographically dispersed team in alignment with our principles.
  • Understanding of local customer and market dynamics.
  • Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset as this role interacts with team members and stakeholders in all Canadian Provinces including Quebec.
  • Candidate may reside anywhere in Canada with the ability to travel nationally approximately 50%.
