Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python), or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience building developer tools that improve developer velocity, code quality and code health (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following: APIs, control planes, or frameworks.

The Compute EngProd team is dedicated to accelerating the development velocity and enhancing the quality of the Google Compute Engine (GCE) Control Plane engineering organization. We achieve this by providing developers with robust tools, frameworks, and streamlined release processes. Our focus is on continuously improving the testing experience across all stages of the software development lifecycle. We empower Google Compute Engine Control Plane initiatives through the delivery of scalable test infrastructure and actionable insights. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining test frameworks that enable automated testing at Google scale.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
