Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in policy analysis and campaigns, working on technology issues or the policy environments that surround them.
  • 7 years of experience working within government, think tanks, public interest groups, technology industry groups, or corporate public policy organizations.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in privacy and data protection.
  • Experience in policy stakeholder engagement in multiple European countries.
  • Experience delivering impact via complex cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to understand trends and develop strategy across issue areas and geographic boundaries.

    The Centers of Excellence (COE) organization is the strategic hub within Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP), providing issue and functional expertise, horizon-scanning for the policy issues affecting our business and ensuring a central global perspective on these, and developing strategies and positions for Google's regulatory and political engagement. Within COE, the Privacy, Safety, and Security (PSS) COE is responsible for this mission in relation to privacy, security, children's safety, government access to data, and the intersection of artificial intelligence with these issues.

    As a member of the team, you will provide policy expertise on a range of issues relating to privacy matters in Europe. You will shape Google's approach to diverse policy topics such as AI privacy, children's privacy, international data flows, privacy-enhancing technologies, and consent.

    Responsibilities

    • Shape Google's approach to diverse public policy topics such AI privacy, children's privacy, international data flows, privacy-enhancing technologies, and consent.
    • Partner with cross-functional and local teammates to drive our holistic privacy strategy in Europe.
    • Monitor, develop strategy, and engage with stakeholders on legislative, regulatory, and policy initiatives.
    • Develop company-wide positions, narratives, collateral, and programming.
    • Represent Government Affairs and Public Policy team with policymakers, civil society, and regulators. Participate in stakeholder forums, working groups, and industry forums, including travel to a variety of member states when needed.
