Job Summary

Equinix is seeking a Public Policy Manager to join our team of government affairs professionals and to lead our work on policy issues relating to securing adequate power for our present and forthcoming data center footprint.

This is an exciting opportunity for an expert candidate to help build our public policy agenda relating to power and adjacent issues and then collaborate with political leaders and government officials to explain our products and services and promote the growth of internet and AI. infrastructure.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide leadership in the following key areas:

  • Identify emerging energy-related public policy issues impacting the Company's mid- and long-term business plans and develop internal and external policy analyses, positions, and strategies to influence the policy and regulatory environment and advance the Company's business priorities
  • Work closely with internal executives and other subject matter experts to assure alignment on policy positions relating to energy and adjacent issues; identify and exchange information on areas of concern and opportunity with these leaders on an ongoing basis
  • Participate in public policy coalitions and trade associations aligned with the Equinix public policy agenda and serve as a key point of contact for our participation in the energy-related committees and discussions. Serve as key liaison to these groups for internal Equinix stakeholders
  • In coordination with Public Policy and Government Affairs team leads, develop working relationships with key policy makers and regulators in order to optimally advocate our public policy agenda
  • Work with the Company's public relations and corporate columniations teams and others to develop a robust set of messages and materials that:
  • Educate policymakers about Equinix business objectives, its importance to the foundational operations of the Internet, and its plans for future growth
  • Position the Company as a leader with vision on central issues of importance to the Company
  • Help the public understand the role the Company plays in the daily operations of the Internet
  • Promote our positive contributions to environmental sustainability through the support and development of renewable energy sources and markets, energy efficiency, environmentally friendly policies and other initiatives
  • Work closely and coordinate with the Public Policy & Government Affairs team to leverage their expertise and execute on strategies to advance our interests on issues of power and related areas
  • Work closely and coordinate with the broader Global Regulatory, Policy, Privacy, and Compliance (GRPC) team to leverage their expertise and to assist them in execution of their responsibilities

Qualifications

  • 8 to 10 years in government relations positions or prior service in state or federal legislative/regulatory bodies with a specific focus on energy and power policy
  • Bachelor's degree; law or master's degree a plus
  • Confirmed high level of integrity, thoroughness, flexibility, initiative, and collaboration
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent judgment
  • Proven ability to succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced, and high-visibility environment
