Product Manager II, Data and Routing Platform

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in product management or related technical role.
  • 2 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch.
Preferred qualifications:
  • 8 years of experience in product management, with experience in developing and launching successful products.
  • Experience in designing products in transportation systems and maps, or as a quality product manager or equivalent.
  • Experience monitoring data analysis and metrics, and building on past insights to form cohesive takeaways.
  • Experience presenting narratives to executives.
  • Experience working cross-functionally (e.g., Engineering, Product Management, UX, Analytics/Data Science, Data Operations, policy, legal).
  • Ability to define and quantify business tradeoffs, in support of the team's strategies.

Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users.

The Geo Urban Mobility team is responsible for developing new capabilities that encourage the use of sustainable modes of transport, including public transit, walking, cycling, ride-sharing, shared micro-mobility, and the multi-model combinations of those modes. The team owns the urban mobility consumer experiences in Google Maps and a unified data and routing platform that helps users across Search, Assistant, and other Google products navigate their cities sustainably.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Managers and Engineering leads to define data and routing quality and coverage goals.
  • Establish the data sourcing strategy to achieve the required quality, including cultivating existing data sources from third-party authorities and defining multi-source strategies as needed.
  • Own the Geo tools operators, developers, and cities rely on to acquire data and monitor the reliability of that data.
  • Understand data and routing quality metrics and statistics and extract insights to help detect gaps, opportunities, and risks, to inform the roadma.
  • Guide the engineering work to utilize product signals to improve data and routing quality, define the requirements for data quality improvement loops, establishing the cross-functional data teams and developing working prototypes.
