Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience managing large-scale technical projects in the software engineering domain.
  • Experience in Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering.
  • 12 years of experience in software development.
  • Experience with front end technologies like TypeScript, React or Angular.
  • Knowledge of and experience with front-end, web testing infrastructure, distributed systems and architecture.
  • Knowledge of ML and front-end domain, including experience with large models (language or multi-modal).
  • Passion for AI technology and all of its possibilities.

As a Principal Engineer, you will be a key technical leader and will influence the technical direction of a key surface of the product. You'll architect, develop, and advocate cutting-edge user interfaces that bring the power of Gemini to life. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring Gemini remains at the leading edge of the AI landscape.

A conversational AI tool that enables users to collaborate with generative AI and help augment their imagination, expand their curiosity, and enhance their productivity.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $278,000-$399,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-performance and scalable web front-end/full-stack architectures for Gemini that enable fast-paced product innovation.
  • Work closely with product managers, UX designers, and back-end engineers to ensure a seamless and beautiful product experience on Web.
  • Optimize the performance of Gemini's Web surface.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of approximately 40 front-end and application engineers.
  • Advocate and enforce front-end development best practices and code reviews, staying abreast of emerging front-end technologies and trends.
