Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 3 years of experience in the Gaming industry.

  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).
  • 5 years of technical leadership and management of large or multiple teams of managers and software engineers across regions.
  • Understanding of game development for any of the popular platforms (PS3/4, XBox, Android, iOS), and being a gamer will help.

Playables are games that you can play directly on YouTube on all devices. We're looking for a Head of Engineering to lead the next phase of product growth.

The YouTube Playables Head of Engineering will be responsible for scaling Playables by deepening its integration into YouTube, and empowering developers to succeed.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $237,000-$337,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering for the YouTube Playables organization.
  • Review and contribute to the Playables technical roadmap and long-term investments, as well as assess launches and major decisions.
  • Develop and recruit talent to meet Playables' goals, and represent Playables in front of YouTube leadership.
  • Engage with engine partners and game developers.
  • Own production metrics and performance, manage technical dependencies with YouTube and Google teams.
