As a leading expert and authority in the field of Data Engineering and Analytics, the Technical Principal-Data Architecture will be instrumental in aligning strategic goals and delivering business value. This individual will collaborate with business segment leaders to pinpoint high-impact initiatives that propel the business strategy. The person in this role will be innovative and a strong advocate for process improvement in their specific technical discipline, using suitable methodologies to boost productivity and performance. This role is typically held by a well-established and recognized figure both internally and externally. The Technical Principal will represent GM Financial in the wider community and act as an unofficial ambassador for the organization. Maintaining a robust network in the community and representing GM Financial effectively will be crucial for this role.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience required. Master's degree in computer science or information systems preferred
  • 10 years of experience related to data analytics, preferably building and maintaining data pipelines, with focus on Data Architecture and Data Engineering
  • 5+ years in SQL, PL/SQL, Python, Scala, R etc.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling techniques, relational database systems
  • Experience of working with both structured and unstructured data such as XML and JSON
  • Experience with data integration methodologies such as ETL and ELT
  • In depth experience of working with Data Warehouse, Data Lake and Data Lakehouse Architecture
  • 3+ Years of Experience with cloud environments, particularly Azure, Databricks, API integrations etc.
  • Strong SQL skills, including stored procedures, with proficiency in data design and management
  • Good working knowledge /experience on NoSQL Databases such as MongoDB, etc.
  • 3+ years of experience in leading projects and initiatives through influence required
  • Experience with leading initiatives from start to finish
  • Strong knowledge of business acumen and a deep understanding of business implications of decisions
  • Strong understanding of company values, mission, vision and strategic direction

Certifications

  • Azure Data Engineering / Azure Databricks / AWS certifications preferred
