Responsibilities
About this Role
The Release Engineering Manager owns the Release Management lifecycle, including scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases across the North American business units. The Release Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring the continued reliability of applications by leading their team to automate the validation that each release adheres to all release management criteria. The Release Engineering Manager will also provide clarity, visibility and transparency to key stakeholders of release plans, scopes, risks, changes and release metrics.
JOB DUTIES
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive release management process including scheduling, coordinating, and managing releases across multiple applications and value streams
- Coordinate and publish release and freeze windows
- Conduct Release Readiness Reviews and confirm completion and readiness to proceed to deployment
- Participate in Change Management meetings to review readiness criteria and discuss release scope and/or roadblocks
- Create and maintain a release management dashboard to monitor and track release progress and trends
- Perform a release management assessment to identify process improvements and adherence to the release management strategy
- Communicate release content, status, and issues encountered throughout the duration of release activities
- Build automation into CI/CD pipelines for validating non-functional requirements
- Work with DevOps Tooling to automate the validation of release readiness criteria into the deployment pipelines
- Promote best practices for infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and automated validations
- Develop tools and processes for seamless deployments, rollbacks, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders across North America and value streams to align on goals and deliverables
- Work with IT leaders and teams to understand system dependencies and downstream impacts for code merges and delivery
- Develop and present executive level reports and presentations including roadmap and release execution
- Gather feedback on the release engineering process and work being implemented to ensure continuous improvement

Knowledge and Skills
- Proven experience in automating release engineering within CI/CD pipelines
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing SREs or software developers
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Terraform, .Net, Java)
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles within the Agile and SAFe frameworks and corresponding release management best practices
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills to handle multiple releases concurrently
- Knowledge of DevOps principles and practices
- Strong understanding of software development and coding best practices
- Strong in the use of Microsoft Office software including the ability to analyze data using dashboarding tools such as Power BI
Education and Experience
- 8-10 years of relevant experience required
- 2-4 years of leadership experience preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred
- 3-5 years of software development or SRE experience preferred
- 2-3 years of IT leadership over Software, DevOps, Cloud, or SRE preferred
