Job Description Summary

Engineer who provides technical support, analyzes data and documents, develops projects and solutions for systems and services, specifies and validates equipment and services, in compliance with international standards, as well as the company's internal procedures and rules. Works always with the safety of the people involved, the quality of products and services, and compliance with legal obligations in mind, applying continuous improvement processes. Identifies and consolidates the interests and needs of the stakeholders involved in the projects, both internal and external, as well as the business development environment. Liaises with customers and suppliers. Works throughout the entire life cycle of projects, from the business development phase, through budgeting and concluding with execution and delivery to the customer. Area of expertise includes maintenance, repair and diagnostic services for high-voltage equipment and systems, including switchgear, power and measurement transformers, and protection and control.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provides technical expertise and develops technical solutions (configuration, performance estimation, economics, etc.) as part of the pre-ITO (requisition) process while interfacing with the commercial team. Possesses a deep understanding of relevant markets and customer economic value that aid winning bid strategies. To include 'ITO': Technical analysis of client need: definition and optimization of the products; scope (description); schedule; industrial scheme; cost, considering contract and internal policies and procedures. Calculation of plant, system and equipment performance and efficiency. Documentation of technical specifications & costing elements for further contract execution phases. This also includes OTR part where engineers work on customizing the products and implementing it for specific customer needs.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.
  • Analyze technical customer specifications and technical documentation of equipment and define the solution to be adopted for projects in the high voltage equipment Service area, especially GIS (gas insulated substation), support in the planning of technical activities related to the development of the project and prepare purchase technical specifications, issue lists of project documents and control project documentation, issue purchase specifications.
  • Assume technical responsibility for projects with CREA when assigned;
  • Participate in acceptance tests with the customer when required, technical field visits, during the identification, execution, commissioning and assisted operation phases;
  • Provide technical support in preparing proposals and after-sales support for systems installed at customers;

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires experience in the Engineering/Technology & Customer Application Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering) with the valid CREA registration.
  • High voltage equipment experience.
  • Languages domain: Portuguese and advanced English.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Team working with diverse areas (Finance, Taxes, Project Management, etc)
  • GIS (Gas Insulated Substation) experience desired.
  • Languages domain: Spanish.
