Job Description Summary

This role is responsible for evolving and implementing methods and tools strategies for Aero-Mechanical design and analysis domain that demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. This position is that of a strategist who can plot the roadmap for coming years and drive delivery of same for all relevant, in-scope technologies. You will be responsible for creating strong working relationships & influence across executive leadership, Hardware owners, product management, software infrastructure and other functional groups.
As a domain expert for this portfolio, you will engage stakeholders as you develop and refine strategies that deliver customer outcomes and are appropriately aligned to industry direction.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:•

  • Own Aero-mechanical blade design tools & methods development roadmap for power gas turbines
  • Shape development activities of in-house design system integration framework.
  • Deliver 2D & 3D blade design, repair, reverse engineering processes and align with GEP NPI applications
  • Enable development of end to end automated process involving NX open programming and Ansys APDL
  • Enable development of process template for mechanical design projects of gas turbine components on Structures/Rotating parts (Frames, Shaft, Disk, Blisk, seals etc.) and/or Airfoils (Blade, Vanes, Nozzles etc.)
  • Technical mentoring and technical training to develop the organizations expertise, including inspiring and motivating our engineering community.
  • Collaborate with global ADT team and evolve strategy for tools life cycle management
  • Supervise Contractor work and deliver on FTY and OTD of tools delivery
  • Collaborate, Strategize and develop Test data reduction & Visualization tools for GEP
  • Understands when change is needed. Participates in technical strategy planning.•
  • Innovate and integrate new processes and/or technology to significantly add value to GE.
  • Identifies how the cost of change weighs against the benefits and advises accordingly. Support other GE businesses, internal & external customers, and suppliers as required.
  • Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing, product center, supplier, or field issues.
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters.
  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • BTech/MTech / MS in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in developing mechanical analysis methods involving coding, automation and building new capabilities
  • In-depth understanding of mechanical design, Geometry Engines, and engineering fundamentals
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering programs, inspire excellence in teams and drive change

Desired Characteristics/Good to have

  • Proven expertise in NX parametric modeling and integration to design systems
  • Good understating of Aero and Mechanical design drivers of heavy-duty Gas Turbines
  • Proficient in software architecture and design with a strong programming background
  • Exposure to AI/ML tools and its applications in design systems
  • Strong numerical simulation experience in any of the commercially available FE packages
  • Experience with software lifecycle management.
  • Exposure to LEAN framework and problem-solving techniques.
  • Strong understanding of turbomachinery static and rotatory component design drivers
  • Prior experience with trouble shooting software platform issues.
