The Wind Blades Product Plant & Fleet Engineering team is seeking a plant support engineer with demonstrated expertise in product deviation dispositioning. As Product Plant Support Engineer, you will provide support from engineering within the context of an operational plant. In this role you will be responsible to help resolve issues relating to blade design and defect resolution (through repairs whenever needed), applicable from product design intent.

As Product Plant Support Engineer, you should also identify and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement relating to blade designs being produced and provide support during launching of new products and technologies in the plants.
You will also be responsible for assessing non-standard repair or defect cases and developing an effective response with other members of the team. From this perspective you should have a good appreciation of the design and failure modes associated with composite structures. The engineer will be based in one plant but will also have a mandate to support similar operations within their region.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Deliver business priorities by SQDC: Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost in that order.
- Preserve design intent: Disposition of Quality Control Reports (QCRs)
- Ensures QCRs are dispositioned in a timely manner to ensure invoicing on time.
- Identify instructions for special repairs and obtain approval by Product Engineering
- Own repair instructions & service instructions
- Update/improve repair instructions and get changes released.
- Identify new repair instructions in case special repairs are needed.
- Create/maintain training materials and provide training to local plant, based on plant needs or/and PPS requirements.
- Support audits, plant assessments and First Article Inspections (FAI)
- For new blades, support the factories at start-up.
- Close cooperation on New Product Implementation (NPI) blades with the project team
- Responsible for launching other new features & technologies on blades
- Support with new repair methods development.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement on the blade product - drive them through as projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Composites Engineering, or equivalent
- 4+ years in Design, Process or Quality engineering (wind industry preferred).
- Experience with design or manufacturing of composite material structures.
- 2+ years' relevant experience in execution of development programs and projects in a manufacturing context
- Pragmatic approach and proven ability to analyze data.
- Able to clearly communicate, convince, motivate and inspire others.
- Able to work in a multi-cultural team.
- Languages: Spanish and English
- Well organized, self-driven, able to work and complete tasks independently and on time
- Willing to travelling, no more than 25% of time
Desired Characteristics
- Product development experience strongly preferred, including knowledge of Composite Structures (design and failure modes)
- Basic CAD and Structural finite element analysis skills preferred.
- Basic project management skills with demonstrated ability in managing projects across functions.
- Experience applying Lean or Six Sigma Tools
- Advanced degree in Engineering or equivalent
