Job Description Summary

The Systems Principal Engineer leads the development of new solar and energy storage products. In this role you will provide system-level expertise, own trade-off decisions, and rive the success of our cutting-edge systems by leading the requirements management effort. As a Systems Principal Engineer, you will have a direct impact on the quality and effectiveness of our products. You will define and manage system requirements to ensure they align with customer and stakeholder needs.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Management, Development, and stakeholders to define and manage requirements for BESS and solar products, aligning with strategies and objectives.
  • Oversee the entire requirements lifecycle, from concept to post-market activities.
  • Analyze, document, and verify requirements using techniques like user stories and use cases
  • Establish and promote best practices for requirements management, including standards for documentation and traceability.
  • Maintain traceability matrices linking customer needs, product requirements, design elements, and test cases.
  • Work closely with engineering, management, and quality teams to ensure proper implementation of requirements.
  • Review and validate requirements to ensure they meet stakeholder needs and support verification processes.
  • Manage changes to requirements, assess impacts, and communicate effectively.
  • Identify improvements in the requirements process and implement solutions for greater efficiency.
  • Provide mentorship and training on requirements management to junior team members.
  • Address risks and issues that could affect timelines, costs, or product quality.
  • Create clear reports on requirements, traceability, and changes for stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science degree from an accredited university in Engineering or related Science fields.
  • Minimum 8 years experience in an engineering capacity, including prior Systems Engineering experience in the solar and energy storage industry.
  • Strong problem identification and root cause analysis skills
  • Recognized as an expert in the generation, verification, and validation of requirements for solar and energy storage systems

Desired Characteristics

  • Ability to break-down complex issues, determine possible courses of action, and enable effective decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to work across BESS systems
  • Proven ability to build relationships across a global organization
  • Demonstrated ability to document, plan, and lead knowledge technology enhancements
  • Knowledgeable about 3rd party certification requirements
  • Conceptual design and system-level trade-off experience

We deliver integrated project solutions to enable large scale electrification and support our customer needs.

The salary range for this position is 111,200.00 - 148,300.00 - 185,400.00 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
