Job Description Summary

As the Logistics Advanced Programs Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing customs and logistics activities for GE Hitachi's SMR Team that is supporting the deployment of GEH's BWRX-300 small modular reactor (SMR) in the United States. You will develop the initial BWRX-300 logistics strategy for United States New Nuclear Project. Additionally, you will provide direct oversight of logistics/customs related matters, implement programmatic solutions, and establish/maintain related procedures (OP's, CP's, WI's, etc.) to support GEH SMR United States' Domestic/International Trade Compliance activities.

This position is based at our headquarters in Wilmington, NC. Must be willing to relocate (relocation assistance provided) if not already local.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Leader and initial member of a team that will develop and implement GEH SMR United States Logistics/Customs program and activities, including establishing Domestic/International Logistics/Shipping methodology, protocols, and partnerships.
  • Support domestic/international shipping activities. Develop and implement Performance Monitoring Plans to ensure on time and compliant SMR component delivery to customers.
  • Establish and maintain required United States Logistics OP's/CP's, and WI's, ensuring regulatory compliance with Import/Export regulations, United States customs requirements, trade finance programs, free trade agreements, etc. Ensure proper filings with Customs and Regulatory Partners.
  • Act as the United States SMR business Logistics/Customs escalation point of contact for both Suppliers and the global GEH business.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement and cost saving opportunities to fulfil business objectives and requirements.
  • Communicate business requirements, priorities, and risks parameters to proper stakeholders.
  • Promote a team working environment that encourages employee involvement to achieve excellence in compliance, safety, customer service, quality, and productivity.
  • Champion positive employee relations. Foster employee engagement and ensure that operational goals are effectively communicated to team members.
  • Represent the Logistics/Customs Organization in weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings that pertain to United States SMR related Logistics/Customs activities.
  • Prepare periodic reports and metrics on duty, quality, savings, opportunities, risks, accomplishments, and value creation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • At least 7 years of experience in International Shipping, Logistics, Customs, Freight Forwarding, and/or Customs Brokerage, including United States import/export experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations, International Studies, Law, or similar field.
  • License Custom's Broker (LCB).
  • Extensive knowledge of Import/Export regulations and Domestic/International Logistics/Shipping.
  • Familiarity with US Customs (CBP) processes, policies and programs; ACE system for import and export filings and reports, the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule (USHTS) and the Classificacion process, the US Census Bureau and the US Schedule B, the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and the Export Administration regulations, ECCN classification, Trade finance programs and USA Free trade agreements and Rules of Origin.
  • Strong functional knowledge of 19CFR Customs Duties and the processes within as well 15CFR Foreign Trade Regulations to ensure alignment between business operations and applicable legal requirements.
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry that requires a demonstrated compliance mindset. Nuclear industry experience a plus.
  • Applicable experience with coordinating, evaluating, overseeing Out of Gage (OOG), oversized, route-controlled shipments.
  • Exposure to Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) implementation, auditing, reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to create operational guidelines and metrics to facilitate strong process performance. Demonstrated ability to implement simple, fast, and compliant process improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to use knowledge, experience, and instinct to make accurate and timely decisions.
  • Experience in working with global teams. Demonstrates a global mindset.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and change management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and deal effectively with multiple priorities in a diverse organization.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and facilitation skills. Able to work and thrive in a team environment and build strong networks at all levels of internal and external organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification or equivalent.

The base pay range for this position is $98,400-125,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on 4/11/2025.
