Job Description Summary

This role is responsible for developing and leading the cultural adoption of Lean principles and techniques in the CSE (Customer Service Engineering) organization in alignment with our broader GPE (Gas Power Engineering) process improvement initiatives.

Specifically, the CSE Lean & Productivity Leader will partner closely with the Gas Power Engineering Value Stream Leaders, leaders in internal customer functions and the CSE Staff to develop a continuous improvement strategy, drive Hoshin Kanri and then facilitate Lean activities to execute the lean strategic playbook. Additionally, the CSE Lean & Productivity Leader will guide CSE functional teams in embracing standard work and incorporating daily management into their operating processes, while facilitating and coaching local process and productivity improvements via Kaizens, Problem Solving, 5S, KPI/bowler management, and application of other Lean tools.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities Include:

Lean Strategy & Implementation:

  • Partner with Engineering & Business Lean Leaders to facilitate the Hoshin Kanri & Transformational Action Planning processes to drive necessary objectives and improvement actions aligned with the Gas Power strategy.
  • Act as a member of the CSE GM extended staff supporting CSE process owner(s) to help develop the process design strategy, prioritize improvements, and create a culture of 'Lean thinking' within the team.
  • Define and oversee implementation of the portfolio of CSE Lean activities to address productivity and process improvements tied to GPE Value Stream Improvement strategies and Gas Power Engineering priorities. Facilitate timely execution of improvement activities and follow-on actions to make measurable progress on productivity and quality objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Value Stream Lean Leaders & GPE Lean Leader to ensure CSE Lean adoption and execution is aligned with Gas Power Engineering objectives.
  • Celebrate and share Engineering application of Lean principles and techniques within the CSE organization and across the Gas Power Engineering value streams to recognize success and leverage lessons learned.

Operations:

  • Coordinate monthly operating reviews with the CSE Operations Leader & CSE staff leaders to gauge performance of CSE internal processes with regard to Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost
  • Partner with Quality Leaders to make sure lean improvements are impactful and documented.
  • Clarify & update progress on the budgetary needs, timing, resource demand, and results from the CSE productivity and process improvement efforts per the defined GPE Lean standard work.

Coaching:

  • Determine need for problem solving with the appropriate Lean tool based on current trend analysis of process KPIs and known issues pertaining to the broader Gas Power Engineering value streams. Facilitate completion of the problem solving in a timely manner following the GPE Lean standard work.
  • Coach the team on effective problem solving tools application including Problem Solving Reports, 5 Why Analysis and Root Cause Investigation
  • Broaden the usage of Lean problem solving and continuous improvement tools to drive process quality and efficiency across the organization
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert in applying Lean models, concepts and tools across CSE. Develop or partner with other Lean Leaders to develop training where required to scale Lean adoption across the global team.
  • Provide candid feedback and recommendations to the Gas Power Engineering Lean Team and CSE Staff on the effectiveness of strategic initiative action plans.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical or similar business-related discipline or a High School Diploma/ GED with 12 years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of industry-related experience.
  • Experience in successfully driving continuous improvement initiatives and implementing LEAN methodology.

  • Appropriate experience driving business transformation and / or lean adoption, preferably within an Engineering organization.
  • Clear, concise written and oral communications to the appropriate level.

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $127,900.00 - 213,100.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, geographic location, and skill set.
This position is also eligible for a 15% annual performance bonus. This position will stay open on the career website until at least 10/2/2024.
*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%,120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
