Job Description Summary
The vision of the System Value Optimization (SVO) team is to create robust yet cost-effective wind turbine product designs by providing best-in-class system value optimization, load assessment, validation, methods, and tools.
As a SVO lead engineer, you will perform system value optimization work, deliver loads and cosims, prepare certification documentation, support method/standard work development, and develop the loads toolchain.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform system value optimization
- Perform system value optimization work, making tradeoffs in the loads, stability, operation, and performance of the product
- Perform feasibility studies and develop tech charts
- Deliver NPI Loads

- Prepare loads inputs, create the simulation model, execute loads simulations, and perform post processing
- Perform basic operability checks and frequency domain stability checks
- Hand off model and controller parameters to MLA (site specific mechanical loads analysis)
- Update load envelopes
- Prepare certification load packages and documentation
- Support developing technical strategy to address questions from certification bodies.
- Support conversations with certification body as needed to address questions
- Prepare documentation to address question from certification bodies
- Prepare co-simulation for validation activities for prototype and fleet leader validation
- Resolve gaps seen between simulations and field measurement.
- Develop advancements in load methods
- Help develop design practice updates with chief engineer office
- Develop standard work updates
- Develop improvements to the pre and post processing toolchain
- Provide SVO related project support
- Help develop technical frameworks for non-standard work
- Coordinate with the System integration team on project plans and strategies
- Prepare and support design reviews
- Prepare technical underwriting documents to support design reviews
- Assess risk and develop mitigation strategies
- Update loads DFMEA (design failure mode and effects analysis)
- Lead lean and industrialization initiatives
Qualification/Requirements
- B.S. + 3 yrs experience in Mechanical, Wind, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering from accredited university (or equivalent)
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in preparing loads for wind turbines
- Experience in root cause analysis
- Experience in Systems Engineering for wind turbines
- Demonstrated problem solving skills for complex problems
- Strong oral and written communication skills, clarity of thought, and ability to defend a technical position
- Master of Mechanical, Wind, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering
