Job Description Summary

The Application Engineering team is part of the Systems Engineering organization. This role is responsible for execution of inquiry to order (ITO) engineering activities for the global ONW business. The Applications Engineer is the technical interface with Commercial Operations, customer, Sales, Project Engineering and Project Management for the ITO life cycle on Wind Turbine proposals. They will provide our customers with engineering excellence, configure machine options to meet customer needs, execute technical due diligence and find creative ways to differentiate the GE Vernova offering.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with Commercial and Projects teams to ensure alignment of engineering support to enable the desired orders growth and increase customer value
  • Responsible for the process and execution for project risk assessment prior to contract signature
  • Drive process & standardization around product offerings including simplified product portfolio & strategy for Design to Orders (DTOs) and customer options
  • Manage the technical aspects of aftermarket proposals including design-to-order requests
  • Lead process improvement efforts related to GE Vernova's risk assessment and due diligence
  • Provide energy assessments and optimize product offerings considering factors such as suitability, environmental conditions, economics, and technical risk
  • Provide support for responses to all customer technical inquiries and communications, as well as review of customer specifications and site data. This includes interface with Platform Teams to facilitate implementation of new WTG offerings & features in the after-market
  • Engage with Platform and product line leader to ensure product requirement deliverables are identified & met where practicable
  • Communicate contract and project requirements to all design functions, utilizing internal documentation systems
  • Contribute to and approve customer facing technical documents
  • Foster metrics to maximize customer satisfaction and minimize resource consumption

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering and technology experience, including strong demonstration of technical skills

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in renewable energy/wind technologies
  • Established project management and leadership skills
  • System or product-level mindset
  • Commercial experience or exposure
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to interpret customer requirements and identify needs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
  • Experience in wind turbine loads analysis simulation software a plus
  • Experience with controls, SCADA a plus
  • Experience providing technical support to sales, commercial and marketing functions, customer negotiations for technical and commercial topics during ITO
  • Global experience with proven ability to work with international teams
  • Effective problem solving abilities
  • Self-Motivated, Team player, with Demonstrated Creativity and Fulfillment

The salary range for this position is $98,400 - $164,000 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation. This posting is expected to close on October 5th or thereafter.
