GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH), a global leader in advanced reactor technology, is seeking a highly skilled Lead Chemistry Systems Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of nuclear energy. As part of the team responsible for deploying North America's first Small Modular Reactor (SMR) at Ontario Power Generation's Darlington site, you will be at the forefront of innovation in the nuclear industry.
In this dynamic and challenging role, you'll lead the design, development, and implementation of GEH's chemical addition systems for the BWRX-300 reactor, ensuring seamless integration of these systems into both new and existing plant designs. Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support with a team of Engineers and Chemists in support of development, delivery, and troubleshooting products related to BWR Chemistry
  • Interface with internal and external customers on the resolution of technical issues related to BWR water chemistry and GEH chemistry products
  • Occasional travel to customer sites to perform equipment/software installations, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Contribute to new plant design activities for chemistry systems and plant design scope affected by water chemistry
  • Support the development and execution of scopes for new projects, which may include laboratory testing, in-plant demonstration, and in-plant delivery / implementation
  • Interface with technical members and vendors of industry groups as needed to collaborate on areas of BWR chemistry
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization as well as internal and external customers
  • Critical thinking; problem solving and the ability to effectively troubleshoot mechanical systems
  • Documentation of test plans, evaluation results, and mechanical design requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 7 years engineering experience
  • Certificate of Authorization issued by Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO)
  • Minimum of 5 years of nuclear experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of water chemistry of power plants

Desired Characteristics

  • Boiling Water Reactor Experience
  • Experience with engineering design documents and drawings
  • Hands on experience (design, construction, and/or mechanical maintenance) working with custom mechanical systems
  • Experience with design and execution of small scale testing and mock-ups of mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with BWR plant systems and/or chemistry issues
  • Programming skills/experience (PLC, Labview, general computer logic/communication)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others
  • Demonstrated legacy of high integrity and positive representation
  • Legacy of delivering on commitments; tenacious, with a proven track record of overcoming obstacles; ability to achieve stretch targets
  • Strong external focus
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
