Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Active participation in elaboration of conceptual, basic and detailed design of Governing System for Hydro Powerplants.
  • Allotted work to be perform in define schedules and budgeted manhours.
  • Standardization and methodology aspects for mechanical/electrical engineering.
  • Functional reporting to your Governing System COE leader and operationally to the System Integrator.
  • EHS: Implementation EHS policy & procedures of GE for design aspect.
  • Safety (EHS) in Design.
  • Should follow the company integrity program.
  • Strong Contract analysis with R&O.
  • Meet the Project Planning (as per MTS and STROMS) and should execute project/activity in allotted budget.
  • Preparation of engineering documents independently (following design practices) -
  • Calculation Note (Sizing and Calculation of HPU, Pressure Tanks, HP air system for Governor/MIV and dewatering system). Design Memorandum, P&ID, Functional Description Etc.
  • Technical Purchase Specification for:

    • Hydraulic Power Unit,
    • Electronic Speed Governor,
    • Piston accumulator and Air/Oil pressure tanks,
    • HP Compressors, Air Receivers
    • Oleo-hydraulic equipment,
    • Instruments, Electrical boxes/ Local Control Panels etc.
    • Organization and participation to design reviews (with principal engineer)
    • Technical Bid Evaluations, kick of meetings, supplier follow-up and detailed design review and validation. Manufacturing clearance, factory acceptance tests and operating & maintenance manuals.
    • Site support during erection, commissioning and warranty period.


  • Quality in design (FPY).
  • Review and reply to customer/SI comments and update documents accordingly.
  • ECO/ECR/BOM Loader activities in Corella/PLM.
  • Co-ordinate with supplier quality team as and when required.
  • Finish the tasks assigned by Manager/Lead engineer within time.
  • Should have experience of working on design engineering operations involving Conceptual design, flow diagram and P&ID, layout of system and detail design, etc.
  • Should have knowledge of preparing and review of detail working drawings.
  • Preparing Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and Technical Specifications.
  • Evaluation of technical submittals by Vendor and approval on the same.
  • Should be able to work with more than one projects simultaneously.
  • Transverse missions:
  • Short business trips (site, client office, supplier workshop).
  • Active participation in standardization and cost out actions.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Should be well versed with relevant IEC/IEEE, ASME/ISO/DIN standard of hydro governing system.
  • Should be well versed with regional standards and Grid code of Brazil and Peru.
  • He or She should have Engineer graduate (Electrical/Mechanical) a dynamic professional with nearly 10 to 15 years of good experience in Governing System engineering for Hydro Power Plant.
  • Expertise in AutoCAD and MS Office.
  • English and Portuguese speaking and writing are mandatory.
  • Willingness to work cross-discipline, i.e, for both hydraulic as well as electrical part of governing system
  • Willingness to support small hydro team/services team/technical tendering team as and when required
