Job Description Summary
This position in Services Projects for Gas Power Controls Engineering is responsible for leadership in driving customer order fulfillment excellence, working across a global technology team focused on controls services fulfillment from order inquiry through customer acceptance and commercial operation. The TLE will support the requisition, design, structuring, validation, and commissioning of control systems for Controls Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Networking supporting all market segments including all rotating equipment such as turbines and generators and balance of plant applications. This role, in addition to closely collaborating with our internal & external customers, is critical in driving a team culture of technical system & domain depth, contemporary leadership, on-time quality execution and strong customer-focused mindset.

Job Description
What Impact You'll Make:
The controls HMI and Networking TLE is an engineering Technical Leader for Services Projects with overall responsibility for technical scope execution, design and implementation into production of controls system projects, covering all rotating equipment and balance of plant market segments. When assigned to a project, the TLE will be responsible for Technical Risk Identification and Mitigation across complete HMI and Networking scope using technical mentoring and direction skills with assigned functional controls engineers. The overall goal of the TLE role is to ensure projects are executed successfully by assigned project resources.
What You'll Do:
- The HMI and Network Engineer position requires an individual that possesses a solid understanding of visualization software, industrial communication, cyber security and control systems as well as exhibits strong project management and communication skills.
- Technical ownership and project execution from commercial inquiry to customer commercial operation for high risk and complex projects as directed by leadership
- Support project and functional engineers to achieve on-time schedule performance, project milestones, customer deliverables, and compliance with regulations and standards
- Support the commercial teams for technical inputs needed to generate customer proposals
- Support and influence new products and product sustaining requirements definition
- Drive overall architecture, top level design, verification, validation and commissioning requirements through assigned project and functional engineers
- Ensure adequate system function, performance, interface, reliability, maintainability and safety requirements through design reviews
- Support and influence assigned controls, HMI and networking engineers to develop comprehensive test plans for system verification and validation, and customer system tests, site installation, startup and commissioning
- Coordinate flow down of internal and external customer requirements/ tasks to assigned functional engineers
- Support Project Engineers in customer discussions/reviews as needed
- Drive consistent solutions across all controls scope where appropriate
- Collaborate with and maintain close, responsive, and productive working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Enforce the application of controls HMI and networking design standards and practices
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Major experience in power generation and/or process control design, HMI and industrial networking
- Strong background in HMI application software including Proficy iFix, Cimplicity, and Historian based products
- Recent experience working on complex Cisco network/HMI upgrades for steam turbine/gas turbine/balance of plant controllers with Modbus/GSM/OPC communication with installed DCS
- Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of time, as required
- Proven strong interpersonal and leadership skills
What Will Make You Stand Out:
- Prior experience in Enhanced CDM, DLN Upgrades, Control Curve upgrades and other modkits for Gas only/Dual - Fuel frame 6FA, 7FA, 7E, 9E, 9FA Gas Turbines on Mark V/VI/Vie controller platforms
- Expertise in legacy HMI systems (Windows NT/XP/7) and Mark V/Mark VI Controllers
- Prior experience in performing software modifications for Mark V/Mark VI/Mark VIe Controllers for turbine applications
- Experience in design & application of GE power generation controls, electrical, cyber, mechanical, or accessory systems
- Experience implementing cyber security systems
- Field installation experience for UCVx Upgrades, system integration/testing, network upgrades
- Cisco Shell, MS Office (including visio), VBA (limited), RedHat Linux (Basic OS), Windows NT/XP/7 (Basic OS), VMWare applications for virtualization, GE ControlST, GE eTCSS, Cimplicity, Proficy Machine Edition (Basic), National Instrument's Labview, MATLAB, MPLAB C (Microcontroller compilers), Good software design practice for Mark V/VI/Vie controllers
- Knowledge or understanding of communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC, TCP / IP
- CompTIA Network+ certified
- Strong computer skills in setting up Windows based applications including Windows XP, Windows 2000, Win7
- Combined Cycle Power Plant design experience
- Experience providing technical mentoring and oversight to less experienced engineers
- Strong experience in power generation requisition, working with customers, project management or EPCs
- Proven oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated System Level thinking
- Agile product development process experience
- Experience in a matrix structure organization, working cross-functionally
- Master's degree in engineering
