Job Description Summary
The Gearbox Fleet Engineer provides cross-functional engineering expertise across gearbox platforms in conjunction with manufacturing, sourcing and sites to ensure the successful role out of GE Vernova's workhorse wind turbines. This role drives resolution of product quality, manufacturing and installation issues through root cause analysis across a fleet of turbines.
This position is co-located with the turbine manufacturing operations and repair centers.

Essential Responsibilities
The Gearbox Fleet Engineer will provide cross-functional expertise across platforms in support of new production and installed turbines in the field. Primary duties will include:

- Coordination across the product design team to ensure gearboxes are working as expected/designed during assembly and testing in the GE Vernova factory, as well as, in field during operation.
- Provide dispositions to manufacturing teams for resolution of non-conformance and product quality inquiries.
- Drive and/or execute design updates to components, installation procedures and designs to improve manufacturability, installation and quality of end products.
- Ensure timely issue resolution and drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventative actions when necessary in conjunction with the Fleet Performance team.
- Consult with engineering design owners to provide dispositions for complex quality issues.
- Drive continuous improvement through supporting product design and manufacturing lean activities and service (PAC) case resolution.
- Ensure requirements, lessons learned, quality, and safety improvements are integrated into our designs.
- Provide drawing/specification/BoM clarification and maintenance as on-site engineering representative.
- Perform fit-up testing and validation at manufacturing and wind turbine sites on sub-system or component level.
- Support execution of PAC service cases, RCAs and Quality programs to drive turbine reliability and performance.
- Work closely with the Fleet Performance Management team to resolve complex sub-system field issues that involve manufacturing quality.
- Work closely with system integration leaders and product design in support of the NPI process to facilitate designs that meet Manufacturing CTQs.
- Support part replacement evaluation and disposition.
- Disposition questions / issues related to assembly sequences.
- Work closely with global Fleet SILs to share lessons learned and drive the consistency of design requirement and implementation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Structural or Material Engineering, or related discipline (OR military training OR Associates degree in a technical field AND 4 years of related experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing, field engineering or other related technical experience.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time across North America. Global travel possible.
- Ability and willingness to climb wind turbines as needed.
Desired Characteristics
- Engineering or technical experience in wind turbine mechanics
- Project management skills
- Solid background in mechanical design engineering, with good mechanical sense and fundamental base
- Solid knowledge of wind turbine design, assembly and manufacturing or similar industry
- Strong communication, presentation and leadership skills
- Ability to work with global team members across cultural boundaries
- Fluent English written and spoken
- Experience working with rotating power trains
- Experience with mechanical systems & designs, including expertise with drivetrain components and/or structural components
- Technical drawing and design interpretation background
- Component design knowledge
The base pay range for this position is $98,400.00 - 131,200.00 - 164,000.00 USD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses or other financial incentives, such as a performance variable incentive compensation. This posting is expected to close on March 3, 2025.
*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
