Job Description Summary

The safety engineer is responsible for supporting the EHS manager/leader to ensure the implementation and maintenance of programs and procedures that ensure compliance with legal requirements (ISO 14001 & 45001), a requirement of GE Power Conversion's Global EHS program (Framework 2.0).
Must engage all employees in relevant Environmental, Health and Safety matters and work together with the site leadership, guiding and providing support so that operations are developed in a way that eliminates risks to employees.

Detailed Description

  • Maintain the primary commitment to the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), complying with all legal requirements, ISO 45.001 and ISO 14.001 certifications and internal procedures applicable to your workplace. Engage in the prevention of injuries, illnesses and pollution related to the workplace by immediately reporting any incident, event or concern related to EHS.
  • Prepare/review the Risk Management Plans - PGR of the Headquarters and specific client projects, issuing ART - Technical responsibility notes.
  • Manage activities in field services related to EHS and Management System processes, programming, guiding and determining the execution of services in accordance with established priorities, providing the necessary means for carrying them out and taking corrective measures regarding existing issues.
  • Promote the dissemination of warnings, safety and industrial hygiene standards at work, in order to raise employee awareness and develop accident prevention habits.
  • Assures coordination with the EHS, Engineering, Facilities, Human Resources and Operations functions, including Leadership Teams.
  • Investigate and identify the root causes of accidents, in order to promote countermeasures.
  • Request various maintenance services, aiming to guarantee safety and better performance in employee activities.
  • Identify, define, control and monitor the needs for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE's) for the Company's employees, and make your request.
  • Maintain a permanent relationship with CIPA, in addition to supporting, training and serving it with guidelines and actions to be implemented, in accordance with specific legislation.
  • Assist in the preparation and promotion of SIPAT, giving awareness lectures.
  • Carry out introductory training for new employees, clarifying working standards and conditions, aiming for their safety and occupational health.
  • Determine the locations to be posted warning and warning signs, as well as identify and signal equipment with their appropriate weight and support capacities and the possible risks that may arise due to non-compliance with safety standards;
  • Monitor and provide all documentation, as well as the entire process relevant to work accidents occurring in the Company;
  • Ensure that employees comply with occupational safety, occupational health, environmental and cleanliness standards at work;
  • Contact those responsible, at the Works, whenever you find an unsafe act or condition, or lack of use of personal protective equipment, established by specific standards;
  • Investigate, in your area of activity, all occurrences of accidents involving people, machines and equipment, preparing the respective reports.
  • Complete the Work Accident Records and Work Accident Communication (CAT), in case of accidents.
  • Develop related activities and apply ISO and global GE Vernova standards.

Necessary Requirements

Bachelor's degree in safety engineering with valid CREA.

Availability to travel to field services to support customer projects (Minimum 50% of the time).

Verbal and written skills in English (Minimum Intermediate Level).
