Role Summary/Purpose:
Provide Fixed and Erection & Commissioning (E&C) Site with the advice and practical support that they require to comply with statutory, GE and customer requirements and achieve continuous improvement in EHS.

Essential General Responsibilities:
General EHS:
- Liaise with other functions, such as Finance, HR, Commercial, Service, Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, Lean...etc to ensure the proper focus on EHS within a global managerial approach
- Ensure EHS risk assessments are effective, updated and communicated (including on E&C sites)
- Monitor applicable EHS regulations and ensure Unit's compliance with local regulations
- Participate to work council meetings with employees / other governing body in accordance with local regulations
- Identify EHS training needs for the Unit in coordination with HRHRHR.
- Train, coach or secure the training and coaching of action leaders, sponsors, and management teams
- Planing to Genba Walk for management teams (including on E&C sites) and follow-up observations
- Perform regular EHS inspections (including on E&C sites) and follow-up findings
- Investigate EHS events by using Root Cause Analysis Tools, such as 5Why, Fishbone, 8D... etc and implement lessons learnt
- Partner with HR to implement a reward and recognition systems around EHS
- Monitor and report EHS KPIs
- Ensure all preventive measures are taken against loss of materials and production through fire, explosion, theft, unsafe storage and unsafe transportation
- Maintain EHS certifications (ISO 14001 EMS & ISO 45001 OH&S MS)
- Lead EHS 2nd & 3rd party audits (Governance, Insurance, Machines Conformity, Customer, Supplier ..etc)
- Report progress of EHS improvements actions
- Prepare operational budgets to fund EHS annual activities.

Environmental Focus:
- Regulatory Compliance -Understand what environmental regulations apply to local organization; Interpret and execute those requirements; Develop process to maintain compliance and audit readiness including leading the environmental officer requirements (having environmental officer certificate is desirable)
- Environment Management Systems-Develop, interpret, and execute GE environmental management system requirements that go beyond local regulatory requirements, including strong hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, environmental permits, waste-water treatment... etc.
- Manufacturing & Business Knowledge -Understand manufacturing, test, supply chain, contractor management and service/field operations in order to identify and address risks in ways that contribute to business goals
- Employee Relations & Team Engagement -Coach employees and teams to develop a sustainable culture and process for EHS excellence, Lead and influence in an organization in the absence of direct management authority
Erection & Commissioning Focus:
- Regulatory Compliance -Understand what EHS regulations apply to local organization; Interpret and execute those requirements; Develop process to maintain compliance and audit readiness.
- EHS Management Systems -Develop, interpret, and execute GE management system requirements that go beyond local regulatory requirements.
- Business Knowledge-Understand project and/or service/field operations in order to identify and address risks in ways that realize business goals
- Employee Relations and Team Engagement -Coach employees and contractors to develop a sustainable culture and process for EHS excellence; Lead and influence in an organization where GE may not have direct management authority.
- Contract Knowledge & EHS Approach -Understand and enforce GE's contractual obligations related EHS, and prepare EHS strategy for the project
- Site Execution & Monitoring-Manage site EHS plan and on-site execution, including metrics, auditing, and coaching EHS and operations teams
- Contractor Management - Leading and managing prequalification process
- Chemical Management - Interprets SDS information for safe use, handling and storage of hazardous chemicals.
People Management:
- Lead and manage the team to ensure performance standards, annual objectives and policies are met
- Ensure the EHS team has the right level of know-how and competency to perform their responsibilities through coaching and development
- Regularly manage and review performance of the EHS team according to Performance Management Cycle (PMC)
Qualifications / Requirements / Desired characteristics:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental...etc)
- NEBOSH or IOSH Certificate or equivalent
- ISO14001 & 45001 Internal / Lead Auditor Certificate
- English both spoken and written for working proficiency
- Minimum 10 years of experience in EHS function,
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Ability to build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external customer.
- Experience of EHS program development, implementation, and leadership experience with a focus on business segments such as Transformer Business, Civil Works or similar industrial sector
- Strong knowledge of and experience with EHS programs including but not limited to;
- Lockout-Tagout,
- Work at Height,
- Confined Space,
- Electrical Safety (High Voltage Test Laboratory Experience Desirable),
- Liftings Operations,
- Forklift & Material Handling
- Industrial Hygiene,
- Process Safety Management,
- Ergonomic Analysis (At least REBA & RULA Experience)
- Behavioral Based Safety Program (BBS)
- Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR)
- Emergency Preparedness & Response Management (including but not limited to Fire Safety & Loss Prevention)
- Proficiency in office IT suite.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
