GE Power Conversion is a world leader in developing and maintaining Dynamic Positioning Systems for the Marine Industry. We are looking for an experienced control engineer to join our team of experts in a role that combines engineering skills with software implementation.

Job Description
You will provide control and modelling expertise to the Dynamic Positioning (DP) team to further develop and continually enhance the DP product, encompassing position control and associated tools and functions.
The output from your work will be used to:
- Generate control algorithms for controlling vessel movement, and
- Generate simulation environments to validate the control algorithms.
- Be proactive in identifying and proposing new developments
- Support other teams such as ITO, OTR and Service
- Develop and maintain an awareness of key technical developments and trends in the DP industry & key competitor capabilities.
Your main tasks will be:
- Specify and implement new developments to expand the capability of the existing DP System and associated tools, for continuous improvement and/or simplification.
- Modernisation and porting of existing functionality to new platforms and/or operating systems as required. Support discussions with stakeholders to map out the future strategy for DP Systems.
- Investigation of issues reported on vessels in operation. Provide support for DP project, commissioning, and service teams worldwide.
We are looking for someone with:
- Solid experience on working in automation/control or a similar technical discipline.
- Proven ability to develop control models and simulations within MATLAB/SimuLink or similar tools
- Provide recommendations through analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers.
- Effective communication with stakeholders of varying levels of technical expertise.
- Support business development by presenting the technical capability of the company and technical case for solutions offered.
- Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects to strict timescales.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Occasional travel to customer or other GE development locations may be required.
