Job Description Summary

Control System Field Service engineer will be a key member of the operations team conducting Field Service activities at customer sites, providing Engineering validation support and leading maintenance service activities covering GE control systems Installed base.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

Commissioning of substation control system (SCADA, HMI, auxiliary systems, communication network, firewall, cyber security) at customer sites

  • Perform control system validation and factory acceptance test (FAT).
  • Lead maintenance services with customers including first line fault diagnostics of Systems and clear failures of control systems installed at customer substations. When on call the engineer has to be available over out of office hours, weekends, and bank holidays to support the customers on first line telephonic support and if required to visit customer substations onshore and offshore to clear the fault.
  • Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, repair, and maintenance at customer's sites. Ensure full reports are generated to the end-Customer.
  • Assist with the internal and external training activities including classroom as well as commissioning-based training.
  • To gain knowledge of new products and systems. Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognized industry standards for engineering ability.
  • Provide weekly time sheets and monthly reports including status of all work undertaken by the engineer during that month and any other items relating to the Services Department. Maintain knowledge of the reporting system to the extent required for timely and accurate input of field information necessary.
  • Communicate project commissioning schedule details, milestones, site requirements, quality issues, and tools/equipment requirements to the appropriate project and service manager.
  • Support the engineering, Sales, and Commercial/tendering teams on service return of experience.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to customer sites in Latvia and Central Europe
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency level in Latvian and English
  • Experience in Substation Automation Systems, working on technical support, testing, maintenance, commissioning in transmission, distribution, industrial and power plants environments.
  • Experience with electrical Protection relays and Control systems (LV, MV & HV).
  • Experience in substation automation systems (PACiS, DS Agile & Zenon knowledge preferred)
  • Experience in Networking, communication Protocols and OT Cyber security aspects.
  • Candidates with proven knowledge of GE protection relays and Substation automation solutions are preferred.

Desired Characteristics

  • Minimum of a BSc in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) coupled with three years of project/service related experience in substations ranging from 11kV to 400kV.
  • Knowledge of Automation, Electrical Control Systems and SCADA/DCS systems.
  • Strong technical skills in Networking, communication Protocols and Cyber security aspects.
  • Knowledge of GE Protection relays and DS Agile or Zenon SCADA will be highly valued.
  • Experience with electrical Control systems detailed design is essential for the job.
  • Ability to perform Functional testing of SCADA/HMI panels.
  • Experience in Factory Acceptance Testing and on-site commissioning of control systems.
  • Strong technical skills on testing & Commissioning control systems including but not limited to SCADA Functional testing, HMI validation, Network communication tests, Integration & testing with 3rd part systems on IEC101/104, signal testing with protection relays on IEC61850.
  • Experience in performing Cyber security functional tests will be a plus
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and achieve milestones and deliverables.
  • Sound judgment, levelheaded under pressure, with an ability to think on your feet.
