This role primarily involves leading a team of highly motivated and dynamic Automatic Test Engineers that are working on the delivery and automation of existing and new power electronics application requirements for power systems, particularly for HVDC converters and the forthcoming "HVDC Grid".

Additionally, you will also be responsible for long-term strategy for managing CAPEX for HVDC infrastructure required for labs globally.

  • In this role the candidate will be reporting to Verification and Validation (V&V) Engineering Leader and will have significant impacts on projects and programs in the functional area.
  • Furthermore, the candidate will have significant input into V&V priorities.
  • Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role.
  • The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.
  • We have delivery centres in Germany (Berlin), UK (Stafford) & India (Noida, Chennai, Hyderabad) and the candidate needs to ensure collaboration across all our delivery centres.
  • Communication and status reporting will be essential to build a strong one team culture.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Seek to automate testing wherever possible using automatic testing platform.
  • Develop the long-term strategy for ATE department.
  • Support continual improvement, raising the effectiveness and efficiency of the ATE team through the introduction of tools, methods, and process improvements.
  • Workload planning for ATE team as well as tracking overall work progress.
  • Ensures that process, policies, and procedures are defined and adhered to.
  • Be Involved from the ATE requirements phase, ensuring requirements are SMART and testable.
  • Establish a process to assess, review and record the testing needs and boundaries of each project to ensure that the control system is verified to the maximum extent possible with ATE before leaving the factory.
  • Accurate reporting and record keeping on Progress and Issues.
  • Maintain a solid assessment of automation team's workload across the delivery centres and contribute to the overall monitoring and review of workload for the business.
  • To set an example and actively observes performance against measurable criteria.
  • To Provide immediate feedback and seek to correct behaviours of the team that do not foster a good culture or contribute towards unsafe behaviour or bad practices that jeopardize our achievements.
  • Provide leadership and technical direction to a to meet project and departmental specific objectives.
  • Responsible for delivery of all ATE activities for V&V department on all HVDC projects on time and on budget.

Develop competent automation test environment (ATE) team that is responsible for:

  • Design and development of testing framework.
  • Develop test scripts according to company defined standards.
  • Create and enhance in-house ATE tools.
  • Execution of automated tests for different application such as PSCAD and MATLAB.
  • Carry out execution of tests and provide clear reporting of results.

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent including power systems and power electronics subjects or proven equivalent knowledge and experience in HVDC business.
  • Extensive' experience in ATE.
  • A sense of urgency and ability to identify and manage risks.
  • Experienced in managing and leading team of ATE engineers with an excellent technical background.
  • Experienced in HVDC Protection & Control system design and have proven problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced in leading programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs on budget and on time.
  • Experienced in leading and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proactively serves on cross functional leadership teams; Makes decisions independently; Pulls in experts when needed.
  • Excellent communications skills, able to forge strong relationships with peer-level designers, platform managers, developers, engineering, planning and operations managers to explain and drive technology change through the lifecycle.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to ensure the proposed solution is affordable, deliverable and delivers the required business outcomes.
  • Innovating to exceed Time, Cost, Quality measures / sharing best practice.
  • Experienced in technology delivery of large-scale projects and Agile delivery practices.
  • Experience in the handling automation test across any industry and/or experience of handling test frameworks involved in testing of embedded systems.
