Job Description Summary

Responsible for the integration of fire detection, fire suppression and hazardous gas detection systems for gas turbine auxiliary systems. Drives design details for fire protection and related systems in air filtration and ventilation, with the support of a cross-functional design team. Demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives in the field of fluid system accessories. Integrates and develops solutions for the fluid accessories designs in Aeroderivative GT packages, meeting business needs across the organization.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, evaluate, and introduce engineering solutions to meet near term and long range Aeroderivative Engineering objectives relative to fluid system accessories.
  • Select Equipment and instrumentation : Choose appropriate materials and technologies for fire detection and suppression systems.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments: Analyze modules and environments to identify fire hazards and risks.
  • Design Fire Protection Systems: Create detailed plans for fire alarm and suppression systems tailored to specific project needs.
  • Compliance with Codes: Ensure designs meet local, national, and international fire codes and regulations. Familiarity and willingness to learn and grow as domain expert in related codes and standards, NFPA, EN54, EN779, etc.
  • Prepare Technical Documentation: Generate detailed design documents, specifications, and installation guidelines.
  • Coordinate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate fire protection systems into overall building designs.
  • Perform Calculations: Conduct pneumatic calculations and load analyses to ensure system effectiveness.
  • Project Management: Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources during design and implementation phases.
  • Be a Helpful resource to all levels of engineering team and encourage dialogue between all groups

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant Engineering Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.

Desired Characteristics

  • 3-5 years' experience in an engineering related function
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • NFPA, EN54, and EN779 work experience.
  • Ability to use CAD tools for model creation (ie. UG NX)
  • Ability to use finite element computer codes (ie ANSYS)
  • Familiarity with drafting standards or practices and geometric design and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Gas turbine design, aerospace design, and manufacturing experience
  • BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Matlab or Python familiarity
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
  • Ability to assess and resolve problems across different team.

The base pay range for this position is 79,400.00 - 119,00.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 5% bonus.
