Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as on-site. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Advanced Technical Center in Shanghai, China five times per week.
The Role -
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the next-generation of Automated Driving and Activity Safety systems and capabilities with multi-functional development teams: software teams, validation teams, system safety teams, architecture teams, design and release teams, and other key partners. He/she will be responsible for the end-to-end development of HMI system for all AD/ADAS features and scale the design for all upcoming GM China specific vehicle platforms. This is an exciting time to be part of the overall Product Development team as we scale our capability to expand our portfolio of new products and capabilities.

What You'll Do -
- Lead and develop technical solutions including use cases, user flows, system requirements, system design, functional decomposition and allocation, system behaviour, structural diagrams, and interface definitions.
- Be accountable and responsible for the end-to-end HMI development of the assigned features and capabilities, including but not limited to: Dynamic visualizations, warning strategies, alert definitions, optimized driver interactions, etc.
- Develop test requirements and test cases, and lead/support issue resolution and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with UI/UX design teams to design a seamless and intuitive user interface.
- Perform deeply complex trade-off studies to balance performance with complexity and cost.
- Lead Failure Mode Analysis (FMEA) activities and allocate identified failure modes to development teams.
- Be the subject matter expert (SME) for HMI capabilities for AD/ADAS features.
- Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system specifications with tools such as Jama and Confluence. Track and create change and issues using Jira.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 5+ years of engineering experience and 3+ years of HMI development experience.
- Deep knowledge of Systems Engineering principles and a proven track record of successful implementation.
- Demonstrated proficiency in writing and comprehending software and hardware requirements and interfaces.
- Understanding of major automotive vehicle systems such as AD/ADAS systems, chassis and vehicle dynamics, automotive networks, propulsion, body controls, infotainment (HMI) etc.

- High level of oral and written communication skills.
- Travel to engineering sites and supplier offices as required.
