General Motors is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Sr. Manager of Software Engineering, Vehicle User Interface (UI).   • Leadership & Team Management: Lead, guide, and direct a large technical team responsible for delivering engineering outputs aligned with the Vehicle Development Process.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide technical leadership to the team, ensuring high-quality engineering deliverables that support business objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interact and collaborate with various teams across multiple functions to ensure smooth integration and alignment.
  • Innovation & Initiative: Lead the team in adopting new methods, technologies, or initiatives, even in the absence of established procedures.
  • Target Achievement: Guide the team to meet or exceed performance and delivery targets.
  • Communication: Conduct regular team meetings, communicate corporate policies and procedures, leadership directives, and safety messages.
  • Vision & Strategy: Develop and communicate a vision and strategy specific to functional responsibilities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Performance Management: Review deliverables, provide constructive feedback, and conduct performance interventions when necessary. Administer compensation plans and participate in compensation discussions.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify and remove roadblocks, resolving potential issues proactively to ensure team success

Specific job responsibilities include:

  • Help shape a technical roadmap for in-vehicle software.
  • Lead an engineering team building software with quality and predictability.
  • Develop and enhance processes where needed.
  • Collaborate across the organization to identify dependencies.
  • Build an effective engineering team, continually growing the skills of team members and recruiting talent to ensure we have domain specific knowledge.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 15 years of experience in software development
  • 5 years of team leadership
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong, full stack knowledge of application and OS software.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expertise in managing and leading complex projects and assignments
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an action-oriented decision-making environment
  • Must plan to anticipate risks associated with projects/tasks and have a plan to mitigate the risks in highly visible environments

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington

  • Compensation: The expected base compensation for this role is : $225,000 - $344,800 Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
