Work Arrangement

Hybrid - This role requires that you be onsite a minimum of three days per week. The primary work location is Warren, MI.

The Role

The Senior Manager for Strategic Commodities and ME Install will be responsible for leading a dynamic group of subject matter experts to develop and execute strategies for Strategic Suppliers (SS), Virtualization, ME Install and GA Optimization. This role will focus on lowering cost for first time quality solutions.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and execute initiatives to improve capital efficiency and flawless launch execution with Strategic Suppliers
  • Establish and drive metrics to showcase Strategic Suppliers' performance
  • Drive common standards, processes, and lean designs
  • Utilize Digital Twin and Simulation to design out flaws through upfront planning
  • Drive "Value Engineering" initiatives
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to develop new strategic suppliers and optimize costs with existing suppliers
  • Lead reviews with suppliers and stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Drive accountability with suppliers
  • Develop and leverage suppliers and synergies globally
  • Create and execute global BoE (Bill of Equipment), BoP (Bill of Process), and BoO (Bill of Operations)
  • Lead GA Install teams and GA Optimization team
  • Develop plans for every site, identifying projects with favorable ROI and ensuring plants can meet build schedules
  • Coordinate with plants and optimization team to execute per timeline and ensure flawless execution

Key Leadership Competencies Necessary for Success

  • Team Leadership - The candidate should demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills and managerial courage required to lead a large group of managers and engineers to deliver business results all while demonstrating and living by GM behaviors and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Collaborating and Influencing - The candidate must have a high level of communication skills, both written and oral along with high level of organization and planning skills. The candidate must be able to communicate comfortably to Leaders and must be able to gain support cross-functionally through influence and reasoning versus command and control.
  • Customer Focus - The candidate must be able to work with key stakeholders (GA team, Plant based team, Purchasing, Strategic Suppliers) to ensure alignment and delivery of solutions that will enable successful flawless launches. The candidate must be willing to help the execution team and plants during steady state and help orchestrate solutions to concerns raised on a timely and efficient manner.
  • Market Knowledge - The candidate needs to be able to look beyond their own area and understand the competition and work to move the business forward be it with suppliers, within the centers, or operations all with an end goal of creating a detailed forward-looking plan.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing with a specific focus on launching new programs
  • 5+ years of building and leading teams
  • Expert level knowledge of installation industry standards and processes
  • Strong understanding of General Assembly manufacturing processes
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
