Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
General Motors is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager to lead the North American Automation Execution team as we launch our future vehicles.
This role will be instrumental in leading a large team in executing strategic initiatives that support our growth objectives and enhance our competitive advantage. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with a strong background in controls, robotics, vision, and plant floor systems that leverages engineering principles, is data-driven, and has excellent communication and collaboration skills.

What You'll Do
- Lead and empower a large team of controls engineering experts to execute innovative solutions by providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship.
- Execute scalable automation solutions to enable cost-effective manufacturing.
- Execute, pilot or support GPS, Press, Body, Paint and GA execution and process development teams as they create new iterations of the Bill of Equipment for specific program/plant launches.
- Ensure flawless execution of product programs and Non-Product Program projects, including willingness to work weekends, shutdowns, and holidays as needed.
- Provide visionary leadership by helping develop and implementing a comprehensive digitization strategy for your team by leveraging advanced technologies such as AI, machine learning, and emulation to optimize processes/technologies across North America.
- Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, measure success, and celebrate achievements.
- Collaborate and influence with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, IT, finance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless implementation of program launches.
- Develop and deliver presentations to senior leadership on project updates, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives.

Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in controls engineering, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement
- 10+ years of experience in a leadership role, effectively leading large teams to achieve operational goals and drive performance
- Comprehensive understanding of the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP) and related manufacturing deliverables, ensuring alignment with global standards and practices
- High level of technical aptitude and innovation mindset
- Understanding of industry trends and core technologies involved in manufacturing systems and must be capable of making decisions and setting directions to enable successful launches
- Strong fiscal mindset focused on company financial results

- Master's degree in manufacturing, business, or engineering
