Work Arrangement

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren - GM Global Technical Center three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role

We are seeking a Quality Performance Engineer with expertise in 3D scanning and virtual assessment tools to join our dimensional quality team within GM's new Autonomous Robotics Center (ARC) organization. This role is critical in ensuring the dimensional accuracy and quality of our products through advanced measurement and analysis techniques. As a Quality Performance Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting detailed dimensional analysis, utilizing 3D scanning technologies, and implementing virtual assessment tools to enhance product quality and manufacturing processes.

What You'll Do:

  • Dimensional Analysis : Perform detailed dimensional analysis to ensure products meet design specifications and quality standards.
  • 3D Scanning : Utilize advanced 3D scanning equipment to capture accurate dimensional data of components and assemblies.
  • Virtual Assessment Tools : Implement and use virtual assessment tools to analyze and visualize dimensional data, identify trends, and detect deviations.
  • Data Interpretation : Analyze measurement data to identify trends, deviations, and root causes of dimensional issues.
  • Process Improvement : Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and process improvements based on dimensional analysis findings.
  • Quality Assurance : Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies related to dimensional accuracy and quality.
  • Documentation : Prepare detailed reports and documentation of measurement results, analysis, and improvement initiatives.
  • Training and Support : Provide training and support to manufacturing teams on the use of 3D scanning equipment and virtual assessment tools.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 5+ years of experience in dimensional analysis and quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in using 3D scanning equipment and virtual assessment tools.
  • Excellent dimensional analysis and problem-solving abilities such as Statistical Process Control, and Tooling certification and repeatability studies.
  • High proficiency in Lockout and safety procedures.
  • Ability to travel to supplier and GM facilities at a frequency dictated by the business needs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, , or a related field.
  • Experience working in a Union Environment.
  • Experience in the robotics or automation industry.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement processes (CIP).
  • Can read/understand Eng Specs (GD&T) and Dimensional Data (CMM, scans)
