Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI or Pontiac, MI three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies."

The Role

The Product Development Quality Manager (PDQM) leads a diverse team Powertrain Program Quality Managers and Voice of the Customer Architects supporting multiple aspects of product development. Team will support ICE products during development including Gas / Diesel Engines, Transmissions and PHEVs. This team collaborates with Engineering, Manufacturing, Design, Innovation, Program Planning, and individual Program Teams throughout the early phase of product development and launch. This team also leads key Quality processes working with 3rd party metrics, Marketing and Finance.

A considerable amount of creativity and initiative are involved, as well as a high level of independent judgment. This role will support new and major programs within the development space, as well as minor and CAP increase programs.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Powertrain Quality Team of 7-10 team members
  • Lead Voice of Customer discussions through Program Quality Managers and Voice of Customer Architects at key decision points
  • Lead/guide Program Quality Manager execution of Program Quality and Readiness Reviews (PSQRR's) to verify that critical Quality and Readiness deliverables meet the customer's requirements and that they are completed on time with integrity; assure there is a high level of awareness of the risk potential of non-green deliverables and provide guidance on proceed or not proceed decisions from AC to SC PSQRR gates
  • Support Vehicle Program Quality Readiness Review (PQRR) process, keeping vehicle team and leadership updated on Powertrain issues and readiness
  • Support Captured Test Fleet (CTF) and On Road Vehicle Testing (ORVT) activities including planning, monitoring and root causing of issues during develop and launch
  • Lead hand off of products from Development to Launch, working closely with other Quality and support teams to ensure smooth transition
  • Initiates Program Warranty Risk Assessment, as well Establish New Tech Risk Mitigation plans
  • Lead Policy & Warranty process for Program Quality in collaboration with Finance team
  • Perform People Leader HR related tasks for Development Quality including forecasting and staffing decisions to support development program plan
  • Follow standardized work as provided in the Global Program Quality Plan
  • Own Program Development Quality Plan standard work and process improvements, implementing improvements and or needed additions to Global Program Quality Plan
  • Lead periodic second dimensional assignments and strategic initiatives within Quality department, including Subject Matter Expert responsibility
  • Support Warranty improvement activities to reduce product IPTV, CPV, Compass PPH, JD Power scores and warranty spend
  • Development of teams members, ensuring team member growth and career planning

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, IT, Computer Science, Chemistry or equivalent experience
  • 8 years of experience in a job-related field
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Product Engineering and Manufacturing processes
  • Multiple programs' experience including early development and launch execution (exposure to multiple phases of GVDP and GPDP)
  • Must be able to travel on an as needed basis, especially during launch phase

  • Familiar with AIAG Advanced Quality Planning process and tools
  • ASQ Certifications
  • Lean Six Sigma experience and/or certification
  • DFSS Black Belt
  • Master's Degree
  • DFSS Green Belt / Red X Journeyman certification
