Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Defiance on a full-time basis.
The Role
The Manufacturing Cybersecurity Resident Engineer is responsible to lead the plant to "Get Secure and Stay Secure" under the Manufacturing Engineering Cybersecurity Program, while supporting site manufacturing networks and systems. Work is performed at a manufacturing facility where a considerable amount of initiative is exercised as well as capability of working independently with remote supervision and is self-driven. A high level of collaboration and teamwork are required to work with many teams such as Manufacturing Operations, Local & Central IT Teams, Cybersecurity Development team, and other Resident Engineers.

What You'll Do
- New project implementation/execution of cybersecurity controls and solutions
- Effectively communicate and manage implementation to program timing milestones
- Utilization of IT reporting systems and dashboards to identify, communicate, and fix endpoint security issues
- Provide project/status report outs to senior management
- Existing equipment/site support (troubleshooting, ability to work with legacy OS, etc.)
- Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all customers/plant personnel
- Provide technical direction and training to end-users with various technical capability
- Engage Manufacturing Automation & Standards organization in assessing and reviewing newly proposed solutions or applications at the plant (SOR review, etc.)
- Support launch and steady-state cybersecurity assessments and activities
- Document and share best practices and lessons-learned for continuous improvement
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Associate degree in engineering or technology or equivalent or 2+ years of experience in Cybersecurity
- 2 years of manufacturing experience
- Hands on experience with Ethernet switches (i.e. Hirschmann, Cisco, etc.)
- Hands on experience with Windows or Linux operating systems
- High-level technical problem-solving skills
- High-level communication and interpersonal skills
- Autonomy - ability to work with minimum supervision, independent judgement, and drive for results
- Ability to manage challenging projects and assignments
- Ability to lead without authority; Champion of change
- Ability to shift schedule based on production downtime opportunities (weekend, off-shift, etc.)
- Ability to stand in place & ability to traverse long distances, climb stairs to access equipment, as needed
- Travel as required (minimal)
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Cisco certified in CCNA, CCNP, or CCSP
- CompTIA Security+
- Engineering bachelor's degree, Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering
- Hands on experience with industrial automation, controls, etc.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Systems
- Understanding of information cybersecurity
- Knowledge of GM Controls Standards
