As a vital member of our Global Team, you'll support GM's manufacturing and non-manufacturing facilities around the world. Partner with an industry-leading team to design, construct, and maintain diverse building assets for various operational functions. Your efforts will ensure safety, compliance, and cost-efficiency, all while leveraging cutting-edge technology to champion social and ecological sustainability.

- Provide technical expertise and subject matter guidance by assisting and supporting GM and leveraged supplier personnel to ensure compliance with General Motors standards (Mechanical Design Guidelines, OneSpec Sections, Standard Design Details, etc.) for Building Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Systems.
- Support confidential project planning efforts by providing preliminary scope and feasibility input prior to the engagement of leveraged resources.
- Write mechanical, utilities, plumbing, and fire protection scope for portfolio project technical SORs for leveraged engineering and construction suppliers to follow. Support controls and building automation systems functional requirements.
- Writes and maintains GM master specifications and design requirements for approved products and materials used in new project work, considering lessons learned and operational feedback (failures, sentinel events, etc).
- Vet new products, manufacturers, and technology for applications in the GM environment with consideration of life-cycle cost.
- Liaison with the following General Motors personnel for SW common system definition, conflict resolution, division of work, and standards interpretations: Global Security, Environmental, IT, Safety/IH, Manufacturing/Plant Engineering, Layout, GSC, Site/Plant Operations
- Support troubleshooting/optimization of mechanical systems with GM customers after a contracted project team (engineers, contractors, CPS personnel) are paid and have moved onto other projects. (GM Mechanical Discipline Engineers are paid by dept. budget).
- Participate in industry advocacy groups (ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.)
- Feasibility reviews of energy performance projects.
- Write and maintain GM master specifications and design requirements for approved products and materials used in new fire protection work.
- Write technical scope of work for leveraged engineering and construction suppliers to follow in execution of project work.
- Develop and coordinate strategic goals and objectives relevant to fire prevention & protection.
- Participate in industry advocacy groups (NFPA, etc.)
- Facilitate resolution of conflicts arising from the tactical implementation of GM/Supplier strategic goals and objectives as they affect fire prevention & protection.
- Review and support the tracking and follow-up of corrective actions for third-party loss control recommendations.

What You'll Need (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study
- 5 - 7 years or more of post graduate industry experience
- Automotive plant experience
- Safety and fire protection guideline knowledge
- Experience with process engineering
- Knowledge of controls engineering
- Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, constantly evolving environment, with a talent for organization, collaboration, and communication
- Ability to travel 20% of the time within the United States
