Work Arrangement:
This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Design Studio in Pasadena, California on a full-time basis.
The Job:
Come be a part of one of the most exciting global design studios that is changing the future of mobility! GM's Advanced Design Studio in Pasadena, California is seeting a motivated NX or Alias Designer with knowledge of fabrication processes and materials to help direct a team of designers that converts early Studio A surface into three dimensional models for the fabrication of design properties and show vehicles.
We are seeking a team player dedicated to a philosophy of designing to simplify assembly and to reduce material costs while leading others to do the same. You will have wide latitude for independent judgement with only moderate supervision given by management.

What You'll Do:
- Responsible for digital surfacing of proof of concept and bench top models.
- Responsible for b-side and build surface data for fabrication of show vehicle.
- Responsible for build sections based off collected information.
- Assists studio personnel in developing solutions to engineering and design problems
- Create and maintain assemblies for large projects.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with Shop, Project Management, and Design
- Intuitive to new technology and applying them to improve existing techniques
- Willingness to innovate and take measured risks
- Supervise quality control and build schedule
- Coordinate input from internal and external customer to better understand customer needs and or perceptions.
- Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in area of expertise
- Perform basic assessment of surface quality
- Adhere to corporate data management processes (Teamcenter, SharePoint etc.) and communication systems (timekeeping, email etc.)
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Experience in surfacing for fabrication including creating tooling data
- Experience using Siemens NX (Unigraphics) or Solidworks
- Analytical ability to solve complex problems
- Knowledge of fabrication processes, including equipment and materials.
- Ability to work under tight timelines and handle multiple assignments at once
- Strong ability to create production math models using high tolerance specifications
- Creative background with strong emphasis in graphic and digital applications
- Areas of expertise and knowledge in NURBS modeling, Sub-d modeling, polygon modeling, rapid prototyping, NX, surfacing class A, surfacing class B, Animation, Dynamo (parametric design)
- Bachelor's level degree or equivalent combination of education and industry related experience

- Experience with Alias
- Knowledge of additional CAD systems
Compensation:
- The expected base compensation for this role is: 100,530 and 160,587 Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- You also need to include general information about potential commissions, if applicable.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
