This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of [Warren, MI, Austin, TX, or Mountain View, CA facilities], you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.

Overview
The Cross-Channel Video and Direct Media Strategy manager will play a critical role in maximizing General Motors' overall video media investment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in planning and buying both linear and digital video, understanding how to maximize GM's video investment across tiers (national, regional, local) and our portfolio of brands to ensure we optimize how we reach consumers that are likely to buy one of our vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background across all facets in media, having experience working with media publishers to build the ideal plan. The selected candidate will also lead GM's channel strategy for all direct bought media, finding new and innovative ways to leverage channels like print, Out of Home and our important endemic media partners. This is a great opportunity for a creative and strategic self-starter to use their media chops to find new ways for GM to go to market, helping build iconic brands while getting more consumers interested in our products!

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategy lead for all direct-purchased media within GM - video, print, OOH, digital direct/endemic, new and emerging channels


  • Develop enterprise level video strategy across tiers and channels, developing approaches to maximize audience reach across channels


  • Work with brand teams to determine best tactical applications of video across each tier with the goal of maximizing reach while reducing excess frequency


  • Lead point of contact for video-based media publishers within the organization


  • Lead annual video upfront strategy and process


  • Lead media agency investment teams to implement and continually refine overall direct channel investment strategy


  • Look for new ways to develop endemic media partnerships and create a competitive advantage in our partnerships


  • Actively move media to programmatic channels when the time is right and co-develop the media buying guidelines for when a channel is purchased programmatically or direct

Additional Description

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience leading media strategy and campaigns either at an advertiser or agency, with a focus on video strategy at scale


  • Demonstrated experience planning media campaigns across multiple video-focused channels and publishers


  • People leader experience preferred


  • Experience working with large media vendors, leveraging existing relationships


  • Excellent collaboration, presentation, and communication skills


  • Experience managing large media budgets

Qualifications

  • 10+ years' demonstrated experience in Media Planning, Strategy, or Activation


  • Solid understanding of all areas of media with hands-on knowledge of a broad cross section of media platforms, technology, and processes


  • Ability to offer a clear POV and a strong rationale to defend position as the media center of expertise


  • Ability to prioritize and tie all media plans to support the business plan & core priorities


  • Ability to communicate strategy and plans effectively


  • A self-starter with the ability to think strategically


  • Experience leading a team


  • Experience working with or for media agencies


  • Excellence in PowerPoint and Excel


  • Excellent communication, presentation, co-ordination, and project management skills


  • Analytical skills


  • Ability to multi-task across several diverse projects


  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The salary range for this role is ($135,800-$208,100). The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
