The Role -

The successful candidate for this role has over fifteen years of experience working within a multinational corporation structure, with the last three to five years in a senior leadership role. They must have a clear grasp of software development methodologies, demonstrated portfolio planning and vendor management experience, and the ability to work across enterprise organizational structures. Their ability to communicate complex topics to non-technical audiences and a drive for outcomes that support business goals is critical.

The candidate will act as a technical advisor to the senior leadership in China, using creativity, skill, and breakthrough strategic thinking to advance key company objectives and help influence company strategy in region. They will work as an advisor, researcher, sounding board, and domain expert in advising key strategic decisions at the senior executive level that drive regional technology roadmap decisions and have an impact across for all of China in all three roles.

The candidate will show executive-level leadership with strategic impact, executive-level communication and teamwork skills, and a high degree of emotional intelligence. They will require no daily oversight, be fully aligned with strategic company goals, and demonstrate excellent initiative and judgment. The candidate will continuously and proactively expand domains of impact and range of influence across their three areas of responsibility.

What You'll Do -

  • JV Partnership
  • This role involves partnering with our joint ventures to provide comprehensive budget oversight, ensuring financial alignment and accountability across all collaborative IT projects. The individual will be responsible for socializing enterprise architecture standards, ensuring that joint venture teams understand and utilize guidelines and best practices. They will be involved in regular reviews of contractual engagements and oversee timely collection for financial commitments.
  • Additionally, the role includes managing regional IT team escalations to the global team, acting as the escalation point of contact for resolving technical issues and facilitating communication between local teams and central IT. The successful candidate will be tasked with overseeing enablers for the premium import business, identifying opportunities for cost effective and efficient use of joint venture systems.
  • The individual will attend both formal and informal meetings with joint venture partners, actively participating in discussions to shape policy, standards, and implementation strategies. This includes aggregating and reviewing reports, providing insights and recommendations, and ensuring that stakeholders are informed and aligned with the same goals and objectives.
  • China IT Leader
  • The second area of focus is IT leadership for a local program planning and budgeting office, stakeholder management, and cross-functional management of core IT functions for GM China headquarters. Core functions include network, data center hosting, support for premium import point of sale locations, help desk, global systems integrations, and collaboration with global architecture and enterprise teams.
  • Software Engineering Leadership
  • A seasoned technical leader for our software engineering team will be responsible for creating customer-facing marketing tools on mobile, WeChat, and other local platforms. The group supports our local cloud footprint, back-office tools, and collaborates with local vendors for specialized, regulation-driven functionality (invoicing, realID, etc.).

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or proven experience in a technology leadership role
  • 15+ years of industry experience
