Work Arrangement:

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Mountain View, California office three times a week, at minimum.

The Role:

As Chief of Staff, you will be responsible for the management of strategic, cultural, operational, and tactical business-related activities among the senior executive staff reporting directly to the Director of Infrastructure Engineering, who is based in the Mountain View office. Assisting in the execution of work-related commitments will also be a key responsibility. In addition, the Chief of Staff will be responsible for presentation development, briefing materials, customer and executive engagement, and effective time management. Given the volume of written materials required as if coming directly from the senior leader, the individual must possess exceptional communication skills.

What You'll Do

  • Support the Leader of Infrastructure Engineering in the organization and running of the business (staff meetings, annual planning, special assignments, etc.)
  • Drive efficient and effective operating processes
  • Guide information flow to drive decision making with Infrastructure Engineering leadership
  • Develop and maintain multi-year business strategy
  • Manage the portfolio/business planning process
  • Summarize project business cases (deliverables, benefits, timing)
  • Assess execution of business initiatives versus the business plan
  • Analyze and report on key operating metrics for the group, including business, financial, and human resources
  • Lead a variety of special assignments, including strategic, operational, and cultural initiatives driven from the leadership team
  • Develop and conduct presentations for all levels of management
  • Identify and implement process improvements for business management
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment
  • Lead cross-functional projects while solving problems and looking one step ahead
  • Act as main contact/lead for internal communications including leadership presentations
  • Plan and coordinate all stakeholders for organization's all-people meetings

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 7+ years of engineering, strategy, consulting, or related business experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science
  • Demonstrated ability and experience communicating and working effectively with senior leaders, executives and administrative staff
  • Ability to work proactively in an action-oriented and decision-making environment with limited direction and high-degree of autonomy
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data to provide insightful conclusions and recommendations
  • A thorough understanding of corporate matrixed management structure with a successful track record of navigating within cross-functional teams to achieve desired results
  • A positive attitude, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment
  • Acute political sensitivity
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Proven to be a self-starter and results oriented
  • Keen sense of protocol and obsessive attention to detail
  • Strong creativity, problem-solving and communications skills (written and oral)
  • Must be willing to travel as needed (less than 20%)
  • Exceptional presentation skills - creating and delivering content

What skills will give you a competitive edge:

  • MBA or master's degree in related field
  • Previous or current Business Planning experience

Compensation:

The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate. The salary range for this role is $195,000 to $298,800. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
