Work Arrangement

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI or Mountain View, CA three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individuals for our External Partnerships Team. One that is a results-driven, calculated thinking individual with a growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit. This role will be responsible for initiating, cultivating, and maintaining relationships. They will also be developing strategies for win-win opportunities between Enterprise Innovation and potential partners with the intended outcome of contributing to new business opportunities for GM and for building long-lasting business relationships. Also, it is important that the person in this role analyzes current industry trends to identify new business opportunities and this role supports the product development team too. Intelligence gathering of corporate and product intelligence is key, with consideration for traditional and emerging players and developing a perspective on relevant industry trends. It is imperative that this person is a dynamic team-player that can work effectively within Concept Development & Partnerships, broadly across Enterprise Innovation, and outside of the company.

What You'll Do

  • Manage relationships with various external parties to develop opportunities that support EI initiatives
  • Consult with partners to solve issues, communicate needs, and create synergy
  • Explore, identify, and pursue adjacencies to areas we compete in that can be good partners
  • Collaborate with other external facing functions of Enterprise Innovation including Advanced Design, and Others to support a variety of activities
  • Keep abreast of news and events related to partners, customers, industries, verticals, and competitors
  • Present findings to cross-functional teams to contribute to development of Enterprise Innovation's funnel and product roadmap; use guidance from activity to pursue development of new partnerships
  • Both support and champion complex investigations and new projects
  • Initiate and build network through targeted outreach and strong project planning
  • Conceptualize new strategic initiatives that could be built around or benefit from accelerator, government, academic, or other external partnerships

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proven partnership building experience (examples of signed deals, etc.)
  • Prior experience in growth strategy/innovation consulting, marketing, market analysis, finance, or corporate development & M&A
  • High degree of comfort communicating and negotiating with external companies
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners at various levels
  • A clear communicator, who can deliver findings in an engaging, fresh, and impactful manner, cutting through complexity to tell a simple, compelling narrative
  • Ability to prioritize and execute projects
  • Demonstrated drive to solve problems in a matrix team environment, leading with high energy and a positive attitude
  • Demonstrated success in that role and tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing partnerships over time
  • Creative analytical person that must be comfortable with high levels of complexity and open-ended questions
  • Demonstrated experience in setting and achieving goals
  • Understanding of lean start-up methodologies
  • Experience evaluating and comparing potential alternatives to address customer needs
  • Experience collaborating with leaders in large organizations and demonstrated ability to influence, cross-functionally align and partner leading to new initiative activation OR experience working with or for startup companies
  • Ability to travel at least 10%

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master's in Business Administration or a similar field
  • High-level of integrity and professionalism
  • Proven record in establishing strategic partnerships, developing complex deals and managing relationships
  • Knowledge of customer empathy research and low-fidelity hypothesis-based testing leading to synthesized insights, lean canvas development and a startup pitch or corporate activation
  • Comfortable with relationships centered around development of both hardware and software solutions
  • Able to cut to the core of issues efficiently, merge multiple data sources and develop multiple solutions to complex business problems
  • Strong initiative and results orientation, with a positive and pragmatic attitude to adversity
  • Proven initiative-taker that can also function effectively within team setting
  • Visionary mindset

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The salary range for this role is $98,900 - $158,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
