Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
The Project Engineer for the Advanced Battery team will be responsible for leading or supporting the execution of a high voltage, battery pack technology development projects. They are involved with the latest battery technology in General Motors electrified vehicles portfolio for both current and future vehicles. They might act in a support role, or lead a high-performance team of battery engineers and will lead multi-functional collaboration. The Project Engineer will directly affect the quality, durability and performance of future hybrid, plug-in and battery electric vehicles manufactured by GM.

What You'll Do
- Utilize the advanced development process (ATW) to support or lead the execution of projects aimed at new or advanced technology demonstration in readiness for integration into the Balanced Architecture (BA) process.
- Establish and lead project meetings.
- Assemble and execute detailed advanced development process timing plans aligned to BA execution.
- Lead creation of component, sub-system or fully integrated Battery Pack system and subsystem math models
- Actively participate and contribute toward Battery Team innovation and ideation related activities targeted towards establishing proactive high value solutions in the battery space.
- Establish the business case for the application of new technology and demonstrate cost/benefit/risk and other key metrics and deliverables as output of assigned projects.
- Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and stored in Global Document Management (GDM), teams, or other designated storage locations.
- Ensure pack meets all BoD/BoM functional requirements and determine requirements where invention is required.
- Lead technical resolution for Battery Pack analysis and component level issues
- Work with related Battery Architects and Design Integration Leaders to ensure compliance to and compatibility with battery spatial interfaces.
- Interface and negotiate with key program stakeholders as well as package and product interface teams - e.g. vehicle structures team.
- Manage timing expectations and execute projects according to the advanced development process templated timing.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
- Five years' of experience in engineering
- High voltage or electrified vehicle safety training and hands on work experience
- Excellent computer skills including analyzing data, crafting presentations
- High level understanding of engineering theory and principles of automotive energy storage systems
- High level of analytical ability where problems are sophisticated
- Time management skills to meet agreed upon customer work, able to run multiple projects
- Interpersonal styles and communication skills to both lead and work optimally with local and international team members
- Technical writing ability to build written engineering evaluation reports
- Ability to read, interpret and generate engineering drawings and specifications
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Master's degree in Engineering or Management
- 7+ years' of experience with a major automotive OEM and/or supplier
- Experience in structural, thermal and electrical analysis
- DFSS Black Belt Certified
- Experience with Unigraphics NX or other CAD Software
