Job Description Summary

The Senior Production Quality Staff Manager will lead the overall quality strategy and execution for Durham Operations. The successful candidate will drive tactical and strategic Quality Improvement Plans, and quality related activities and initiatives for the site with use of FLIGHT DECK fundamentals.
Product quality review associated with the manufacturing process. Impacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

  • Partner with Durham teammates to drive quality within operations.
  • Leadership of both quality assurance and quality control. Includes quality assurance of products, services, and assembly processes.
  • Leadership for deployment of standardized quality improvement planning across the shop in line with GE Aerospace's Proactive Quality Strategy and Zero Defect Culture.
  • Drive integration of Durham quality organization in quality framework pillars: APQP, Read Across, and others.
  • Drive connection to the broader ATMRO quality organization.
  • Presents projects plans, risks and recommendations to senior business leaders within quality space and occasionally to senior leaders in partner technical teams.
  • Communicates solutions across own function and with cross-functional partner organizations.
  • Supports recruitment and development of the Quality team
  • Execute strategies related to quality assurance and quality control of products, services, and manufacturing processes.
  • Work collaboratively with the Durham team to identify systemic quality issues and develop robust root cause corrective actions.
  • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma tools to monitor and drive process improvement and producibility activities in partnership with the design engineering organization.
  • Drive preventive and corrective actions to assure product compliance to specifications.
  • Partner with the Durham team to assess the operations needs and develop solutions.
  • Engage with regulatory authorities as well as certifying bodies (i.e.: FAA, DNV, etc.) to maintain compliance and certifications to industry requirements and best practices.
  • Work on cross functional teams to drive Quality priorities.
  • Build strong relationships with key customers and suppliers, and ensure customer requirements are evaluated, documented and flowed down properly, and products are validated.
  • Support activities such as field issues and failures investigations, root cause analyses and implementation of corrective actions, lessons learned issues and consequently design standard updates.
  • Partner with Durham teammates to drive quality within operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University or College.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Production Quality or related Manufacturing or Engineering field.
