The Military Materials Development Engineer will provide materials expertise and technical programmatic execution for key technologies under development in conjunction with our military customers. The candidate for this position will partner and work with personnel from various engineering disciplines, management, and technicians every day in an office and laboratory environment.

Roles and Responsibilities
- • Execute technical coating development programs with an aim to burn down technical risk associated with maturing these materials, leveraging domain expertise in the field.
• Collaborate with horizontal teams (materials, design, manufacturing) to advance the technical maturity of coating technologies using the TRL/MRL process while meeting programmatic milestones.

• Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and materials science to develop new coating systems with desired performance for metallic and composite materials.
• Provide technical documentation to support peer and customer reviews.
• Present data to program and customer personnel at technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
• Recommend approaches to solve materials and manufacturing process-related issues utilizing current best practices to influence high-risk items and improve designs.
• Proactively identify lessons learned and best practices and ensure appropriate documentation.
• Communicate significant developments with leadership and consult on technical roadmap development to inform the future direction of technology development.
• Partner with measurement teams to develop new test methods for coating and structure performance.
Required Qualifications
- • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related Engineering field from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of 1 years of experience in a materials science engineering position
• Ability to obtain DoD Security Secret Clearance
Desired Characteristics
- • Experience with materials and process development
• Experience with material selection, material testing, and material testing processes
• Existing DoD Security Top Secret or Secret Clearance
• Experience leading a technical development program, managing budgets, and communicating milestone commitments
• Advanced degree in Materials Science or related Engineering field from an accredited college or university
• Strong oral and written communication skills
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
