Job Description Summary
The Mechanical Component Design Support Specialist - Generators will be contributing to the design, development, and validation of components and systems relating to aerospace electric power generation.
In this role, you will be linked to technical development and improvement of new and existing products including high speed rotating machinery, cooling and lubrication systems, and the analysis and validation of the design.
At GE Aviation in Dayton, OH the EPISCenter is the headquarters for all of Aviation Power Engineering. At this facility you have an opportunity to put your engineering training and skills to use. Our Engineers are focused and challenged on developing new technologies and delivering state of the art products such as Hybrid Electric aircraft, the latest military platforms, and SiC technology to name a few. Plus, if you like hands-on work, there is also a 155,000 sq ft lab that includes 6 high power test cells totaling 15 MW, an EMI chamber, an electronics lab, a rapid build prototype lab, and a real time simulator lab with all the latest equipment.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements for mechanical engineering disciplines for high speed rotating aerospace electric generators and their associated components.
- Developing conceptual knowledge of professional discipline. May include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in broad area.
- Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience.
- Resolves issues using established procedures.
- Consults supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
- Collaborates with others to solve issues.
- For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE.
- Exchanges technical information, asks questions and checks for understanding.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma/GED
- This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status.
Desired Characteristics
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute engineering tasks.
- Previous experience or coursework focusing on the design and development of aerospace components.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
