Job Description Summary

The Materials and Logistics Leader - OWS London is responsible for the management and execution of all materials and logistics requirements in support of shop and field operations to meet customer and business requirements. This includes short-term material provisioning and movements to ensure requirements for products in WIP and known or forecasted inductions are satisfied. long-term strategic planning and inventory management.

  • Working in a fast paced environment near Heathrow for GE Aerospace - On wing support.
  • Supporting a variety of major customers with in-house repairs on Aircraft engines.
  • Supporting the logistical demands for engines and parts movement throughout the world and ensuring timely supply to meet the business needs.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage material processes and systems, prepare and update production schedules and purchasing needs. Ensure operational alignment with production plan and KPIs. Optimize inventory and process improvements.
  • Drives focus & continuous improvement in meeting delivery and cost commitments, management of vendor and supplier performance, identification and escalation of risks to delivery and cost, optimizing of picking rules and ordering practices.
  • Develops & executes site level inventory management including physical audit, physical separation, and forecasting. Regularly reviews inventory levels and drives strategic actions (includes & not limited to annual physical inventory & monthly cycle counts).
  • Coaches team on significance of Inventory to the site and the objectives of inventory management.
  • Develops and implements processes to manage, store, and physical movement of rotables and Customer Owned Property (COP). Understands Customer and Business expectations and limitations and develops strategy and plan for use of rotables and COP to optimize business outcomes.
  • Ensures site compliance in areas of import, export, Customs, and dangerous goods requirements. Establishes record retention processes, understands and supports audits by local authorities, and coaches and trains team members in understanding compliance requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members

Required Qualifications

Experience in the Manufacturing & Materials Planning and Execution. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
  • Ability to manage and further develop a small team to support the business requirements during the projected growth in the next two years
  • Advanced experience in Materials Planning and Execution.
  • Previous SAP knowledge would be advantageous
