Job Description Summary

In this role you will be a Material Planner within the Materials Team, responsible for accurate and efficient material throughput in support of manufacturing cells, engineering, and external customers.

This role has a strong emphasis on ensuring world class standards of material flow, storage, accuracy, quality, and kitting. The Material Planner will be integral in executing the Production Plan and will manage work-order launches in combination with effective material presentation and control whilst identifying key shortages that may affect the line

Our Cheltenham facility employs approx 1600 people and manufactures power distribution & avionics equipment for global military and civil aerospace customers.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

Role Summary:

  • Attend daily operating rhythms to ensure cell material position clarity.
  • Use planning methods to execute in line with Production Plan.
  • Review material position and drive supply-chain to deliver in line with customer requirements.
  • Apply problem solving skills to overcome cell queries and provide swift resolutions.
  • Assist coaches and leadership with process improvements to develop performance of local team and the wider manufacturing workshop.
  • Support leadership on process improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve inventory turns, reduce manufacturing losses, and develop world-class material presentation.
  • Deliver on personal goals agreed with leadership relating to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  • Request parts through the PFL tool.
  • Expedite material through goods inwards

Essential Responsibilities

  • Generate daily and weekly production schedule
  • Manage shortages to maximise clear to build and on time starts/finishes
  • Release job cards in line with MRP and action exception messages
  • Collaborate with ops team to provide output commits
  • Define daily/weekly production goals to track adherence to the plan
  • Collaborate with ops team to ensure resources are appropriately allocated and aligned to achieve the plan
  • The applicant must be a good team player flexible and be able to work to tight schedules.
  • Monitor the integrity of job card data to ensure MRP signals are correct

Qualifications/Requirements

  • The successful candidate will be a motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • They can work in a fast
  • paced environment and having experience of, or exposure to, a similar production environment would be beneficial, as would knowledge of MRP systems
  • Good problem solving skills & being able to perform effectively in pressurised situations
  • Able to effectively influence within a matrix organisation
  • Competence in MS Excel is required.
  • A degree level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong problem solving skills desirable
