The FLIGHT DECK Lean Engineer performs the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line within a service shop. Requires mastery of a body of theoretical knowledge. Requires developed and strong foundation of function skills and knowledge of relevant technologies.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Drive the understanding and application of FLIGHT DECK Lean principles and tools
• Connects the voice of the customer (VOC) to the targets to improve (TTI) and leader standard work (LSW)
• Works in cross functional teams both at the Genba (actual shop floor) and Obeya (great room)
• Engages in breakthrough initiatives such as transformation rhythms, shop strategy action planning reviews, and daily management operating rhythms - Levels 5, 6, & 7

• Supports the continuous improvement of key process indicators (KPI) and the sustainment of standard work process improvements - both transactional and non-transactional
• Implements 5S & Visual Management standards and controls
• Works on complex solutions and implements new solutions utilizing both Lean and technology
• Leads kaizen problem solving events and oversees the implementation of future state value stream maps (VSM) and transformation plans to eliminate process constraints
• Facilitates, prioritizes, and owns an active pipeline of waste reduction projects, Shingijutsu kaizen events, and action plans for the McAllen site
• Coach, mentor, and train others in all FLIGHT DECK Lean, Six Sigma DMAIC concepts and tools
• Presents product / program strategies, Lean roadmaps, risks, and recommendations to Senior Leaders
• Defines processes, IT tools, trainings, systems, etc. to be used by the manufacturing community
• Specifies needs, communicates about project approach and presents outcomes of research done
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing)
• Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in Production Process and Equipment
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT:
This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
Must pass background and drug screens.
