A Configuration Management Specialist (aka Configuration Manager) is responsible for actively managing engineering design data throughout a product's lifecycle in accordance with program requirements. This position will support GE Aviation Engineering Power groups located in Pompano Beach, FL and Bohemia, NY.

In this role, you will assist with providing consistency between the product and its configuration information and establishment of Configuration Management Plan (CMP) for assigned programs. Product categories include documents, hardware, software, tools, materials, processes, and systems. Primarily functioning as a change administrator in accordance with the 5 Pillars of CM, this role ensures any changes to product information are identified, approved, verified, and recorded in sufficient detail to produce and support the product throughout its life cycle.

Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Chairperson for Configuration Control Board (CCB)
- Process and monitor engineering changes
- Evaluate/implement Design & Bill of Material changes & coordinate the introduction of the change within engineering and manufacturing environment
- Technical point of contact for day-to-day activities related to processing both hardware and software assets
- Provide back-up support for PM / Data Managers for Contract Data Requirement Lists (CDRL) & other CM/DM duties
- Attend program Kick-off and generate CM Planning documentation.
- Review SOW/SOR for Configuration Management/Data Management requirements
- Generate CM Basis-of-Estimates (BOE)
- Monitor and update data in company PDM/MRP environment
- Support Physical/Functional Configuration Audits
- Support CM Manager as required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
- Plus, a minimum of 6 years of experience in Configuration Management
OR
- High School Diploma
- Plus, a minimum of 10 years of experience in Configuration Management
Additional Information
- The ideal candidate will sit onsite at our Pompano Beach, FL facility
- Ability and willingness for 5-10 % domestic travel based on business need
Desired Qualifications
- Strong software confirmation management experience with DO-178/254 is strongly preferred
- Experience with Windchill Product Data Management (PDM) or other Enterprise data management tool
- Prior experience managing commercial and military programs
- Able to read engineering design blueprints and schematics
- Experience in a Military/Aviation Engineering environment
- Clear, concise oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal/ customer service skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to learn quickly and deal with a changing environment
