Job Description

Position Overview:

This role is at the heart of our cross-disciplinary engineering efforts, bridging the gap between technical solutions and business objectives to deliver high-quality products that meet our customers' needs. As a Software Engineer, you will lead the charge in designing, developing, and optimizing complex systems through a comprehensive process that spans from conceptualization to deployment. This includes identifying software requirements, exploring alternative designs, conducting trade studies, and ensuring the chosen design integrates seamlessly and performs as intended.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the integration of components and products to maximize software performance and operability.
  • Oversee the management of product and software requirements, ensuring clear specification and effective flow down to all levels of component and subcontractor teams.
  • Lead validation and verification activities, encompassing software-level testing to guarantee overall product/software integrity.
  • Define and manage product requirements for modules, components, subcontractors, and partner teams, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.
  • Navigate the complexities of component design, focusing on critical-to-quality (CTQ) factors and risk management.
  • Maintain oversight of product configuration and the configuration control software, ensuring consistency and compliance.
  • Directly manage a team, including hiring, performance evaluation, and professional development, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.

Work Environment:

This position offers a hybrid/onsite work model, requiring three days per week in our Grand Rapids, MI, or Clearwater, FL offices. We provide corporate relocation assistance to support your transition.

Requirements:

  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with at least 3-5 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).
  • Advanced experience in Engineering/Technology & Software Engineering, with a depth of knowledge of C++, Ada & Embedded Software (must have 3+ years hands on experience with C++, Ada & Embedded Software).
